I recently got Lightwave, but I have NO idea how to use it. I make clothing in world, and would love to use this tool to better my clothing. Any one have any tutorials or ideas how? Anything will help.

Feel free to respond here or contact me in world via IM or notecard.

PLEASE HALP!!

It just so happens that one of our beloved forum regulars, Robin Sojourner, is one of the world's experts on Lightwave. You can find some tutorials on her website, www.robinwood.com. I'll also take a second to plug her book, LighWave 3D 8 - 1001 Tips & Tricks. I haven't read it, since I'm not a Lightwave user, but knowing Robin, I have no doubt that it's excellent.

Sadly, I own the newer Lightwave, version 9.3.something or another. I plan to use it to "bake" clothing, add lighting. But I don't see a tutorial for that on robin wood's site. :/

Any ideas? lol

Try that site--go to the 'Lightwave' section of the site > Tutorials.

Also, if you Googamel LW...you'll find a lot of resources and tutorials. Lightwave huh? Nice...I'm always impressed with someone that takes the road less traveled. However, I'll tell you first hand, if you aren't familiar with 'real' 3d applications...LW has much steeper learning curve.

I'd start with 3D Studio Max if I were you...then when you're comfortable, move onto Maya.

Both Softimage and Lightwave are very nice...but they aren't nearly as user friendly, or optimized for import/export. They certainly have their own strong community base, but not nearly as large as Max or Maya.

Max and Maya are the industry standard overall.

PixelDolls had a Lightwave tutorial for baking shading into clothing textures, but the site was taken over by the web version of ad farmers. This is why I generally save a copy of anything I find useful.

Must have paid her domain renewal :) Yes, that's the article I was looking for.
