I prefer to make my stuff either from my own designs or based loosely (inspired by) from a varity of resource material. As far as quality goes the one thing I have noticed with using images from the web and copying and pasting them on the templates that they dont look that good when you close up in on them Because most web images are compressed they tend to pixelate. This does not occur as badly if you are using fabrics/trims or handpainting for some reason. As far as preferences go, either will do if the outfit suits my tastes and is well done. -Jennyfur

For me that'd depend on the circumstances. Sometimes I have fresh clothing ideas popping into my mind, and at other times I'll get inspiration from a piece of clothing seen in town, in a movie or elsewhere. As a matter of fact though, my rule is to never "copy and paste" anything; I prefer have the satisfaction of creating something that is eally "mine". Same goes for textures, it's better for me to find out how to make them and try to create one that suits my needs, rather than just copying an image or existing texture.

(ADDICTED TO P.S) yes.. i tried coping and pasting.. and it looks kinda bad... i prefer to do my own thing.. and it comes out good... i put my copy n paste stuff.. for cheap since i did not do anything.. i just copy n paste.. (something even my granny can do) so its just cheap.. but the stuff i work hard on.. then its the basic price Thanks for posting ________________________________________________________ *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- ------------------- CALIENTE DESIGNS ----------------------- Located in: Galleria City, Galleria Skywalk, Mexican Town, and Centre ville. _________________________________________________________

Not all Photosourcing is the same.. I have done 3 methods of makign clothes in SL..
Sometimes with photosourcing..depending on the pic you still have to fit it to the template. Sometimes like a jigsaw...specially if you want the seams to line up and the collars to show and so on. Quality wise yes..sometimes its better ,sometimes it does pixelate or blurry at parts when you look close.
Swatched...Photomorphing or what i call half and half.. Taking a pic and using the idea or parts of it.. ie Buttons maybe the collar and some details...wrinkles and such and then drawing around it sometimes keeping the item as is in the pic and othertimes it changes to something different.
Hand Created... Well for those of us with no artistic training or speciallty programs or drawing tablets. This one can be extremely hard, usually looks very cartoony or just flat.
With the new skins and more realistic nature of SL its sometimes hard to get good clothes to go with everything else.. who wants stuff that looks like it was done with crayons.. I know i made a few and toasted em LOL.
From what I have seen throughout SL is people will wear what looks good no matter how it was done.. as long as they like it... Even with seams off or a color blur here and there or whatever.. (Also why you see people wearing alot of black)
I enjoy making clothes of all styles and types and learning more about making them and how to make them better, watching new people come in and add to SL with thier own style and atistic ability. It all adds to whats out there in SL.
Well think i have ranted long enough... *hugs all*

Briana Dawson For me it gave me alot to do while umemployed. Now that I am employed again, I don't expect that I will slow down much as I only work part-time. So far this week I've added three new outfits to the Tokyo Retro line and added four more items to the Mix & Match Tops/Bottoms. I had to make up for the fact that I only made one thing last week =) I'm such a slave driver... Personally, I think always having something new each week keeps the customers coming back. There were some places I used to shop where the same stuff would be up for months on end. So I would end up not going there cause I knew the same stuff would be up that was there the last time. -Jennyfur

When it comes to photosourcing for my recent stuff. I will use detail things like zippers, buckles, straps and that sort of thing for details. Otherwise its all fabric manipulation, painting and other various photoshop tricks.
I started out doing the copy and paste thing, which actually is a good method of learning how to make clothing and how to use the templates. For me it was a starting place and I moved on from there fairly quickly.

i like both types of clothes. either way is fine as long as it looks good using images and photos work fine on SL clothes as long as you use high quality pictures..

I personally dont liek using photosourced parts for my clothing. I like making the clothing for the challenge of it.... and if i use parts of clothing its kinda like cheating to me. I have seen some nice things that were photosourced... but its not my thing. It's more of a personal choice. Whatever works for you...
