Long coat over a skirt?

I'm working on a full kilt and Prince Charlie jacket set-up. Both the waistcoat and jacket overlap the kilt. I've got the waistcoat painted right on the front of the kilt.
If I make a long coat using the leg textures for the lower overlap with the coat show up over the skirt or will it be under the skirt texture? Does anyone know or do I need to upload the texture to find out?
If it doesn't work I can always to the front and tails of the jacket on the kilt but it's nice to be able to remove the jacket too.

It will be under your skirt layer. I would create one kilt with just the waistcoat overlap on the skirt layer and another kilt with the waistcoat and coat drawn on the skirt layer. That way the customer can still choose whether to wear the coat or not.

Thanks Betty.
This stuff is a real pain. I'm too used to being able to have the 3D adjusted so it all works right. Without a way to paint directly on the Avatar this is way too hard.
