Hi Problem I am having is with Alphas (I think they are called that), I want to make a plant that when looking at both sides of the textured prim, the textures match. but no matter how I flip and whatnot I cannot get the textures to match. I have a plant that the texture came in (bought) and I am trying to match that prim exactly but cannot seem to get it right. If anyone understands my probem, any tips/help/ link to an already posted problem would be appreciated TIA

I'm not sure I understand your question as worded, Nissa. The most obvious answer is simply that if you want both sides of a prim to have "matching" textures, just apply the same texture to both sides. And if you want them to both point the same direction, flip one of them horizontally on the Texture tab in the editor. But that seems too obvious, so I must assume I'm misunderstanding you. Can you explain in a little more detail? How about posting a picture or two of what you mean?

I think the problem is that the texture itself is offset a bit in the alpha so if the texture is applied to both sides it will not be centered the same with both sides.
I would suggest matching up texture on one side.
Then use Select Texture on the side that is offset to only select that texture.
You can then use either Horizontal or Vertical offset, Rotate the texture, stretch the mapping to like .9.

I am wondering what 'plant that the texture came in (bought)' bit means

Problem solved. I needed to actually use the 'select texture' feature in order to flip textures correctly and individually.
As for the not understanding 'bought'. I bought a flower/plant which came with the texture inside the root prim, so I wanted to try replicate the plant so I am the 'creator' but could not figure out how to do that. Anyway a really nice person on HIP helped me before I could get back here, so thanks for the helpful responses, as always i have a lot of 'simple' and not so simple things to learn about building etc

No you didn't misunderstand me, it was a simple problem, I have never until today actually used the 'select texture' feature.

The term "select texture" is so misleading. Almost no one figures it out without someone showing them. As I say every time this comes up, there aught to be a 3-way toggle at the top of the editor for selection masking. The options should be "select whole objects", "select individual prims", and "select individual surfaces". That would eliminate "select textures" and "edit linked parts", both of which are confusing.

Are you sure the person who made that plant texture *wants* it taken out of the plant and reapplied to other stuff? Just saying, you should prolly check they're ok with it
