I haven't yet had a play with this tool to see if it's any good, but I wanted to post a link to a tool I just learned of:

Here's another interesting 3D app I just stumbled upon. 3D Software Object Modeller Pro. Catchy name. hehe

Claims to make 3d models from photos. The examples on their site are pretty impressive. Free 30 day, fully functioning trial - although they do want some personal info in exchange.

I played with Blacksmith a couple of years ago. As I recall, I was quite unimpressed with it. At the time, it was buggy, crash-prone, and the brushes were underpowered and very hard to control. Hopefully it's improved since then. From the screenshot on the website, it looks like the interface has gotten prettier, if nothing else. Maybe I'll play with it again.
