This has been driving me nuts for the last two days. I'm working on a pair of ripped jeans to go with a specific shirt I like...took me awhile to get the bumps for the seams working, and for the waistband... But now the pockets - specifically, the back pockets - are something I haven't been able to look proper at all. They don't look right as a bump map, as an overlay, dodged/burned...maybe I'm too picky, but does anyone have an idea of a way to make pockets that I'm overlooking?

Ok your pockets must be a basic shape and I assume your using PS. put the pocket shape on a overlay, with the flat texture in place and treat the edge just like you did the seams, except for the top/opening, use a fine drop shadow effect for this. There again you probably tried this and it hasn't worked as expected. My only other solution is to do a google search for 'textured pockets'?

I haven't tried it just like that, no. Its at least something to try ^^ Thanks!
And I can't really google search for the pockets...not that I haven't certainly tried! But since I made the denim texture myself, sourcing another pocket doesn't work out so well. I have a flat image, I'll try your steps and see how well they work - if you think of other tricks I can try, let me know!
