Hi All,

I'm banging my head against the wall. I am working in Photoshop CS. I have my Alpha Channel created for a shirt that I am playing around with. When I go to save as a a targa the option to save the channel is grayed out. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Did you crate a LAYER or CHANNEL? (two differnt things)

Is your channel set to visible?

I created a channel but there is also a layer mask associated with a color. So to answer your question both.

Make sure you're working in RGB mode. When you go to save the TGA, it will warn you that the save will be a copy. Just ignore that and click OK. After you've named your file and clicked OK to save, a dialog will pop up asking you to choose a bit depth. Choose 32, and your alpha channel will be included (assuming it actually is a real alpha channel, and not a layer).

As for the layer mask, yes, it will show in the channels palette, but don't worry about it. It won't make any difference to your ability to save 32-bit TGA's.

Okay, I got mine fixed and my problem ended up being that I had two channels instead of just one...silly me...anywho, it works now. I'm not sure if that will help you but that's what was going on with mine.
