Hiya all,

I've been fiddling with photo's and the like to create some textures but I have some quite specific ones I wish to create. But havn't a clue where to start to create them. For example creating creases in fabric or realistic panel joins in metal.

I was hoping someone might know a good source of tutorials to help or maybe you guyscan give me advice on techniques please :).

thanks guys.

Hello Katier,

Did you read the stickies at the top of the forum? They contain some great info on creating the effects you are seeking info on.

The Second Life fashion mag (Second Style Magazine) also had a how-to regarding wrinkles. I believe it was the 4th ed.

I agree. There is a sweet tutorial in the style style on wrinkles. As for textures, best tool is google. You either going to hand darw everthing or Photosource using free pics and those you shot yourself. (me!) Both take immense talent, and are not for the light hearted. I Have Genetica, it lets me make textures for the more complated stuff like the metal. But honestly, most of my textures comes from RL photo shots. I am making an old fashion diving bell stuff for someone using one photo. And the texture looks like the photo because I snipped a tiny piece of the pic for the texture and painted it.

And that is what pretty much everyone does.

I'd like to add- check out the websites for 3D graphics, they have many tutorials & sources. A few even sell Texture CDs.

That should be enough to get anyone started!;)
