Hello everyone, I'm just starting to get into developing my skills, for building and scripting. I'm already a graduate from a computer science degree and I work as a full time developer so my main focus is going to be scripting. I've done some 3d modelling before as well so I'm fairly familiar with that area. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with texturing or 2d art. I'm not sure if somewhere that I really want to develop as a skill at all yet or if its something I'll come back to later. But in the mean time I'm love to pick up a big texture collection or two that will allow me to make my objects something other then plywood or plastic colours. I've looked on SLexchange and there's a huge range of options but they're priced widely and its hard to differentiate any of them.
So basically I'm just wondering if anyone would pick out a set of texture packs that will give me a good base so that I don't have to worry about textures until a later date and still be able to produce reasonable good looking objects.

I would go to Yadni's Junkyard and get the L$1 texture packs before you start paying proper money for textures. If you're just starting out, they'll probably be all you need.

You wouldn't have a location for Yadni's would you? Find isn't throwing anything up

Hmm, it should! Anyway, if you go to my mainland area (Theretra 168,20 there's a landmark giver that has Yadni's in it. It's the one that looks like a map.

"Little rebel" in the sim Gallina has two free texture packs (I think they're on the second floor, left) - there's almost every kind of texture in there, I used them a lot when starting to build.

Quite honestly, I have to agree with the others, even though I sell texture packs like the ones you're considering.
When starting out as a builder, start with the freebie textures that are already available at the sandboxes and various newbie hangouts. You can, quite literally, find hundreds, possibly thousands of them out there. And don't forget to look in the Library section of your inventory! Some of the LL provided textures are quite good, and well worth using even in high end builds. I still use some of those freebies and LL Library textures, even when doing custom whole-sim builds. No sense buying firewood when the forest floor is littered with sticks, right?
That said, the time will come when you want something specific, and just can't find it. Then you should go to a texture store, like Textures-R-Us, where I sell my textures, and look over what they have to offer. If you don't find what you need, a texture artist like me can usually make a custom set for your specific requirements.
Good luck in your building!

Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.
