Waterfall from a skybox

I've made a little sky island. I'd like to have a waterfall cascade over the edge and down into space, eventually dissolving into mist.

My current attempt isn't that satisfactory. The waterfall is a sculpty prim created by a tool called the Water Wizard (picks a shape and texture from a website). I have a particle emitter at the bottom that creates a plume of spray going upward. This combination works fine, when the base of the waterfall object is hidden beneath a water surface, but not so well when it's out in the open air.

At some angles, the spray hides the bottom of the fall, but at others, the solid nature of the fall object is clearly apparent.

I don't know of any way to apply a gradient alpha texture to a waterfall object, on which the texture has to be in motion...so my next thought was, "what about a waterfall made completely out of particles?"

Does anyone have any suggestions?

use particles.
Its most efficient for fading, especially since its a skybox anyways.

Thanks, that was my thought as well.

I'm pretty ignorant about particles, though. I can tweak my Sarah's Mist script to generate the size cloud I want, mostly by hit or miss changing numbers, and that's it.

Is there a script available for a particle waterfall?

Have you checked the Particle Laboratory? I don't recall seeing that script specifically, but I do remember seeing a pretty convincing waterfall on their sim the last time I was there. I can't get in world to grab a SLURL for you right now, but you should be able to locate the place with a quick Search if you don't already have a LM.
