I've had some great direction on how to do some alpha textures (christmas tree, wreaths etc.) and I'm doing the pee-pee dance with excitement to try it out and LO and BEHOLD the blessed trial program won't work!

Has anyone else had this problem? I just got it 2 days ago from the Adobe site and it seemed to download great..I have all these pretty icons on the desktop BUT now there is NO program to run or open. I've looked all over the place, did a search for it and the only thing its finding are the installation icons and extra folders.

Please help me before I drop kick this computer across the room!!!

Ouch, that sounds frustrating. I'm not sure what to tell you other than maybe re-download it and re-install it. Maybe you just got a botched download.

Out of curiosity, when you say "pretty icons on the desktop" does one of them say Photoshop CS3 Trial or some such? What happens when you double click it? If you right click it and hit Properties, where does it say the target is?

A little heads up for those of you who have not used Adobe's current trail programs.

Adobe have put a few extra steps into the process  .

You have to go through the process that you would expect to install the program, but it doesn't, all it does is install the installer for the program  *after* all that you then need to run the *real* installer (grrr....).

It sounds like you have done the normal steps that every other install uses, and that people expect, and are understandably confused as to why the program is not there.

To get it working, double click the install icon on the desktop to start the *real* install.

(I hope that you have a big system hard drive, because by now you have, at least, three different copies in different states eating up room  )

I've tried to re-download it too, and re-install. Here's my boxes when I open them...

I'm really at my wits end on what to do. It looks like its setting it all up and ready to run it and then all the boxes just close up once the bars get all the way across and then thats it.

If I remember correctly, the file "ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.exe" is the one that you downloaded, and then when you ran that, it created the folder on the desktop called "Adobe CS3".

The next step is to run the *real* installer (Adobe have made it so that you have to install twice for some strange reason, once to install the installer, and then again to do the real install).

To find the real installer, you need to open the folder "Adobe CS3", and possibly other ones inside (I can't remember exactly). Once you have found something that is called Photoshop and runs, that will do the real install, which will put everything in the menus and so forth.
After that, you can delete both the file "ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.exe" and the folder "Adobe CS3" as they are no longer needed.

Good luck.

Thank you both for your suggestions, and I did indeed try all those things and still nothing works. Now I'm thinking I have about 10 downloads of this ginormous unusable program b/c I can't even see an uninstall option...sigh.

Have you considered calling Adobe? Their support is generally very good.
