Use SL's Search function, look in the Events tab for educational events. There are several good classes a week you could take advantage of in world. Also, take a look at the VERY large list of tutorials in the sticky at the top of this forum. For a good start, try Natalia Zelmanov's very nice series of tutorials at http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/day-50-tan-leather-and-creating-cloths.html.

I am not personally familiar with Corel, so I do not know.... does it offer you full flexibility to work with layers and paths? If not, you may want to consider working with Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or Gimp, all of which are commonly used for clothing design in SL.

I personally use paintshop pro, I tried a Corel Draw trial version but wasn't happy with it.

I'm not a designer IRL, but I RP one on SL!
