I need your expertise please.

I have been trying to make a "basic" plant using flattened cubes. The texture applies nicely to the "board" with great transparency except along the edges, where I get a very fine black line. I've tried applying the texture to only two sides, tried a slight offset, but neither seemed to help. Any advise you can give me would be deeply appreciated!

What usually works for this is to first use a *true* transparent texture over the entire cube prim, then drag the flower texture to the two sides you want it to show on. This leaves the other areas transparent, and you should not have any black lines. :)

If you need a *true* transparent texture, IM me in world and I'll be happy to drop you a copy of one! :)

Ohhh...thank you!!

You know, I actually thought about that...a transparent overlay so to speak. Question...if I were to want to try my hand a making one (a true transparency) wouldn't it be just a blank texture with a 100% black alpha channel??

Probably! Though I am not much good with Alphas. I use a version of Photoshop 7 that lets me make a transparent image and then just save it as .tga to upload to SL. And when I upload an outfit, the transparent parts stay transparent as well. I've never needed to upload a full transparent image though because the one I have in my texture folder was given to me ages ago. hehe..

I say give it a try! :)

Wish I had that version...lol. I couldn't get any transparency to come in world at all, even as an alpha channel for awhile. Photoshop 7 kept throwing out the alpha channel no matter how I saved it. Until I read (in these forums) that the upgrade patch to 7.01 solved alpha channel problems I was nearly in tears...lol. Now they work perfectly.

However, don't be surprised to get an IM from me tonight...lol.

Thanks again!
