I am making a skirt from a picture, and what I did was copy and paste the picture from Fireworks into Photohop. The skirt is knee length, and I need to know how to make it transparent form the end of the skirt down. Any quick tips?

Have you read this thread /109/32/80851/1.html ?

It's one of the very useful stickies at the top of this forum, "Transparency and Alpha Channels: The Definitive Guide ".

wear skirt, go into appearance and shorten skirt, however depending on the texture this may or may not work.

This is a confusing request. Do you want to make the skirt shorter or add transparent elements to the hem? If you want to make it shorter, all you have to do is re-hem it. That doesn't require transparency at all. You just do as Dekka suggests --- wear it and edit the skirt's length. That's about a minute's work or less. If you really want transparency, then you may have to watch out for some of the problems associated with alpha channels in overlapping skirt elements. Be very sure to read all of the sticky that Suezanne recommends.

Part of my confusion in knowing how to respond is that you don't say whether this is a standard SL "painted on" skirt or a prim skirt. Again, the answer depends on whether you really need transparency or simply want to make the skirt shorter, but the techniques you use depend in part on what style of skirt you have.
