Is it possible to run two instances of SL? I have a strong rig, and I'd like to be able to run my main account and an alt at the same time. So I was wondering if someone has done this, and what have you found to be the best way.

Thank you.

For Windows:

Change your shortcut to add -multiple at the end.

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple

This will be overwritten every time you update SL. I put my shortcut down on my Quick Launch bar so that doesn't happen.

You can run up to 5 avies on one system. But each one you run with slow down you system. As ALLAN said you can do this..but it will really slow down your system. What happens is if you run out of CPU power avies will crash, if they don`t get enough cpu power.

I managed to get three SL windows open so I could take a pic of me and two of my alts which are actually two friends who come over. It kills your framerate. I finally got the pic though.

Thank you for the help. :) I understand that there is probabaly a sizeable cost of running two or more isntances, but I don't think I'll have much trouble with two. ;)

You can up as many as possible.......Problem is CPU power. If you can handle day 25 :p heheheheh then good:) it all depends on your system and setting of the SL client. By turning off some features will allow you stress the client less resulting in a lower power useage.
