I am not new to creating 3D modeling (3d mesh or Primatives). Nor am I new to creating textures. I am however new to Second Life. I have noticed there are requests for many kinds of prims and textures. I would like to ask the general populace and vendors alike a question about hard to find items. What kind of prims and or textures are people looking for YET NOT FINDING? What are some of the pitfalls a new vendor needs to be aware of? The reason I ask, is that I am offering my services to you. I am fixing to open a store in SL very soon, but the marketing reserch needs to be done first. if anyone reading the forums has any ideas, I would be all ears and full of gratitude. below you will find my references as to the quality of work I do. http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm/FuseAction/ProcessSmartSearch/istIncAuthor/GraphicGuru/blAuthorExact/yP.S. From: graphicguru Glass What kind of prims and or textures are people looking for YET NOT FINDING? Original 3D textures not ripped off from big-name real-world content - and textures that tile without showing obvious repeats. From: someone What are some of the pitfalls a new vendor needs to be aware of? It's not necessarily an easy market to get established in. Have a look at this thread where advertising in SL was discussed at length, there might be some handy information in there.

Hey graphic, Welcome to SL! Custom textures are a huuuuge part of what I do in SL. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people that specialize in that - like Jackal said, the vast majority of really good ones seem to be ripped off from other games. The ability to design textures for a particular building is part of the skill of working with textures in SL, from what I've found. Also since our lighting engine isn't so hot, a growing number of people are incorporating lighting and shadow effects directly into the texture itself. You might want to consider the possibility of doing custom work as well - just make sure you set a fair price for your time and talents. Good luck!
