AlwaysOn, which had already named Linden Lab to their Top 100 Companies list, further honored Linden this past week during their annual conference at Stanford in Palo Alto. Linden was selected as the "Rising Star" of 2005. Streaming video of the event is available here - it takes about 15 minutes but you can see Philip accepting the award and describing Second Life to a group of tech influentials, entrepreneurs, bankers and venture capitalists.

For software that's still seems to be in beta two years after it was released, I'd give it more like an orbiting moon rating rather than rising star.
