first off, i am a builder, and i like to build, im a noob, but i dont think i'm to bad, but i have absolutely NO textures ok, now to the questions i was wondering if untextured stuff would sell, i build it, make it mod/trans no copy, and sell it, letting them know they can mod and they have to texture it themselves or 2. i build, find someone with a lot of textures, let them texture it, then sell it and we split the profits or 3. i just give up hope of being a builder soon and try to figure out how to texture before i ever build again

Get some textures. there's plenty of good freebies to get started with. Texture your builds and sell them fully-mod so people can retexture them any way they want. I've got a bunch of freeware textures you can have copies of. Send me an IM in-world. Here's a good place to visit: http://www.mayang.com/textures/

Untextured stuff isn't going to sell very well - texturing builds properly is an utter pain, that's why people pay for other people to do it.

From: scaman Tandino but i have absolutely NO textures Open you Inventory, then open the folder in there called Library... in there find 'Textures'. Voila! You have textures! Look up Yadni's Junkyard (I think that's how its spelled). Go there and find a ton of free textures. -Ghoti

If texture upload cost is a problem, you can check out places like Gnubie store, YadNi Junkyard or Free Dove -- they provide 'freebies' for token payment of L$ 1 a box, including sets of textures and such... at worst these can help you to properly adjust UV coordinates on your builds and such. o.O

The best buildings are those that have been textured and built hand-in-hand, rather than texturing a building as an after-thought. Prims without textures are like football without beer.

Here's how you make money as a builder without textures:
Make a anime robotic avatar, with like a million and a half prims for detail. Be sure to set the prims with a low shine and fullbright so you don't accidentally go and look different in any way but the quantity of prims you used.
Box the robot up and sell it on SLExchange for L$100.
Viola, rags to riches.

In my opinion, good texture selection and application is 75% to 90% of good object creation. In the case of clothes, it's 99% of the value added by the creator. Applying textures creatively is as much an art as creating the textures, or drawing pictures. It's a skill and a personal talent people will pay for. It's also a skill that not everyone has, or can accquire.
I think that you would find that untextured items will find little to no sales. Even if all you use are the free textures from the Library inventory, you can do quite a lot to make your building more interesting, and to make them sell better.
The only reason that most people would buy an untextured or crudely textured item, rather than one that is well-textured, would be if the scripting or construction details were an order of magnitude better than the closest textured option from someone else. For example, if you made a really fantastic vehicle, that had great scripting, people might overlook bad or nonexistant texturing. Especially if it was modifyable. But that same vehicle is sure to sell better if the texturing is just as good as it's other features.

Start with a really cheesy texture, even just changing the texture color, to give people a starting place to get their minds going. It's all you really need if they can mod.
