As indicated in the subject line - I'm looking for date experience recommendations.

Somewhere to get dressed up and spend an evening or a day.

There's so many possibilites..., any input is appreciated.

You have to take pics and post them! I think this is quite endearing.

I'd strongly recommend the Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok (Krung Thep).

They have a few different venues there; all are first rate, and afterwards you can take their motor launch across the Chao Phraya for coffee and dessert at the Oriental if your date is even the *least* bit well read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriental_Bangkok

As for dancing... well... depends what you want. :) Some may be comfortable popping into one of the many establishments in the Farang quarter, but I'd say - be a bit daring and get out into the city at large.

Might I make a recomendation for The Ritzz Nightclub on Fairytale island.

The Ritzz is a period era Ballroom/swing club reminiscent of what you would see in the 40's & 50's style. A large club with an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. a large dance floor , a theater style stage for a big band and or emcee/Dj. Plenty of seating with waiters who serve fine food. a fully stocked bar in the back as well as cozy seating and a cigar area and an outdoor patio with romantic views of the sea that surrounds the isle. Events are usually held 2 to 3 times a week (next one is on friday) with a live DJ playing classic swing and jazz and the club is also free to the public on non event days with a radio stream always playing. People usually attend the club dressed in formal wear and its quite a sight to see so many well dressed people enjoying themselves.

In addition to the club, Fairytale island where the club resides, has many areas for a couple to relax and enjoy themselves. Theres so much to do and see on the isle. Its a very charming and romantic place. I think its a great place to go for an evening or day of dancing and exploration with a loved one or friends etc.

no matter where I go, I always end up back at the Blue Note. It ain't the prettiest, but you can't beat the atmosphere of that wonderful slow jazz...

It's not a hotel or club, but my top romantic spot pick is the floating castle and the land builds in the northeast corner of Seacliff on Eddie Escher's/Fallingwater Cellardoor's land. has been my favorite place in sl since finding it a few days after joining. really inspired alot of my own building. the rest of the Seacliff sim is beautiful as well! <3 :D best sim ever!

This is an informative thread with places I will definitely check out, just to see what's there. I wonder if service-style jobs such as "waiters," "cabana boys/girls," or other attendants will be a part of a SL growth industry in the months/years to come (as opposed to dancers and escorts at clubs). I've also been waiting for some sort of dinner theater or other live performances (besides music) to become an entertainment option in SL.

(Do a lot of people go on "dates" in SL? Do they desire an experience that mimics a RL date? Just wonderin' out loud. :) )

LOL....I can see it now...

"I am part of this really neat virtual world where you can do ANYTHING! I even got myself a job there!"

"What kind of job did you get?"

"I am a waiter!"

"The cabana boy job was taken :-( "

Hey, if avatars will "dance" for hours on poles, why wouldn't they be willing to wear a skimpy swimsuit, carry a tray of virtual drinks around and act solicitous for a some L$s? :p

Thank you very much for the great replies.

In response to your question Beryl - for me, it's all about creating an environment for conversation. The interaction seems much more rich to me if I'm in a proper setting. I don't enjoy speaking to someone while they stare at a wall and I hover 10 feet off the ground looking in the opposite direction - we might as well be IMing on yahoo.

Taking someone to an interesting SL location, in the style of a date, creates a shared experience and opportunites for conversation. I'm also going to go yahting, sky-diving, skiing, flying and anything else that looks fun to share.

Getting skilled and creative with Avatar sex is definately fun, but it's getting to know people that's the primary kick for me.

They already do in some sims, sort of.

Think a little bit differently

One of the most romantic experiences of my life, doesn't sound that great when said out loud lol.

When I was about 17 I was in love with a young man, who phoned me up and told me to get my posh frock on as he was taking me out to dinner. I duly dressed and waited to see where I was going to be taken, in full length dress (ok this was the 1970s) and high heels.

He arrived, in dinner jacket and looking very handsome, and I began to worry that I might not be quite smart enough for the venue.

That is, until he dragged me down a long dark overgrown alleyway and across the local university campus (then a desert of 1960s concrete) to the University cafe.

The students in the cafe played up to the situation, and put tea towels over their arms, and insisted on waiting at the table instead of asking us to go up to the self service counter. I can't remember what was on the menu, except for the dessert, which was an ice lolly colourfully described as stormy petrel on a stick.

I laughed more on that date than I can ever remember having laughed before (although not as much as I have laughed in SL) and I remember that date although all the others I have been on, in expensive restaurants, cinemas, theatres, have merged and faded.

My point is, it doesn't matter where you go. Make an effort to put your date at their ease, use candles, music, picnic blankets, flowers, as in RL. Listen as well as talking.

I like the Lost Gardens of Appollo, although they can be a bit crowded at times.

Have fun
Cali

Most Romantic Spots In SL
07-26-2006 00:27
In order of degree of romance

1. Lost Gardens of Apollo. Simply breathtaking to behold. There's a club in the sky and a romantic salsa dancing area overlooking the sea. My wife proposed the me in Apollo and we got married there.

2. Svarga. Another lush, garden setting. Be sure to stop and feed the birds. This one is a very close second to Apollo.

3. Seacliff. Another garden, well done, but a bit laggy for me. Still, a great date spot.

Hope this helps!
