I don't see the stealth liaison post or forgery of a post. I don't recall the exact name used. How did that work out?

It was deleted as I was posting to it.
Most likely that Anonymous posted was found-out and canned for breaking their "no talk" clause in their employment contract. _____________________

I believe the anonymous liason posted that he/she would remove it herself if she didn't like how it was going.
coco P.S. OK Androclese, can you just sum up how it was going then, since you were there at the end? _____________________

OK Androclese, can you just sum up how it was going then, since you were there at the end? It was deleted while I was replying, too. At that point I think the discussion was going fairly well. Some were skeptical of the OP's identity but many were responding with their own opinions on the rise of griefing in SL since the registration changes. Even that few minutes where I got to read what was (allegedly) one insider's view gave me a shred of hope that I'm not imagining any of this, that LL is aware and that some things will change before long. It's certainly more feedback than we got from Daniel Linden's specious and premature "Abuse Levees are Holding" blog entry. _____________________

can you just sum up how it was going then, since you were there at the end? "You would like us to send in ARs so that you can prove to your bosses that there is really an upswing in grief thus causing you to have to work overtime in order to keep up, and even though ARs appear to be ignored you expect us to be more credible to your boss than you are?" This is admitedly as viewed through my mind and memory.I mean: what posting? Incidentally, I have found Google Notebook to be very helpful in capturing web stuff that may go goodbye. Didn't snag that one though. |

Hadn't noticed Google Notebook. There is too much to keep up with! Speaking of sending in ARs, this reminds me of my request for a Speedee Bug Reporter. For ARs, we should be able to select from the text of the last ten ARs we have filed, and fill in the name, to cut down on typing. Something like that. Add a "ban from my land" checkbox to the AR dialog. That reminds me of Strife Onizuka's scripted bug reporter; maybe that should be adapted to send abuse reports via email. _____________________

I would like it to be reviewed to be moved back, as it was on-topic. How about it, LL?

Even that few minutes where I got to read what was (allegedly) one insider's view gave me a shred of hope that I'm not imagining any of this, that LL is aware and that some things will change before long. It's certainly more feedback than we got from Daniel Linden's specious and premature "Abuse Levees are Holding" blog entry. I took a different read from it. It made me quite concerned about the future of SL. To *me* it read that Linden Labs was only looking at the numbers and not listening to the Residents of the Liasons. The posters intentions may have been good, but it sent me the wrong message. I truly hope I am wrong in my interpretation that post, but between these idiotic 200m ban lines, the no-confirmation accounts, the lack of response from ANY Linden in an official manner, and the increase of Griefing against us, I am getting quite disgusted with the game and find myself not wanting to log and deal with all the issues. I logged in for all of 15 minutes today and I found all my statues covered with plywood boxes and I was orbited twice while trying to clean it up... all by accounts created on 6/21. I didn't even bother to AR the incidents. Why no? Seriously, what's the point? Why Bother? They are Greifer accounts and the owners will just go get new ones. The Linden's, in their current state, are powerless to do anything about it. I just have to pay my tier, sit there, and take it. *shakes head* I think I go play Civilization for a while....perhaps conquering the planet will make me feel better. _____________________

Bearing in mind how LL boasts about their openness/laid-back-ness within the company (if not so much in-world) and assuming the poster was a real Liason, I doubt anyone was canned over this. I also doubt we'll hear anything else on the subject, as LL is even more tight-lipped about internal affairs within the company than anything pertaining to in-world.

The advice to AR griefers is good - I think ARs pile up the evidence against griefers, and at some point it reaches critical mass. If the account is a griefer throwaway account it's still best to AR because how else can anyone know the state of things. "I got orbited," "I see a lot more griefers..." - well, take the time to AR. That's a piece of advice I am planning to take myself, as sometimes I just don't bother.

Well, I don't see any point in AR'ing griefers anymore, unless you just can't get them to go away except by calling a Linden liason, etc.
There is no point in AR'ing them because there is no point in banning them! coco _____________________

At this point, ARing griefers is to wake up LL and let them know that there *are* griefers. *We* know that they're there, but from what we've been hearing, it seems that at least the people in charge at LL *don't* seem to believe that there's a real griefer problem. Seeing an AR for each and every time you get griefed can (hopefully) change that. |
