I don't. I don't think I do anyway.

If you do -

How do you live in secondlife?

Why do you live in secondlife?

Are you happy about it?

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

My family and I were able to travel to this world through technology provided by Linden Lab. Although some of us travel back to Earth on occasion, we have made this world our home again.

We were forced to leave this world over 35 years ago after a great catastrophe and very fortunate to find our way back over two years ago. My parents live in Nova Albion and I make my home in Cowell. Grandma and Grandpa Baysklef and my great grandma, Cessadia Thetan, are rebuilding their homes in Stinson and Cowell, respectively. This is our homeworld and we look forward to seeing it become filled with life again.

We have sold most of our earthly assets to help fund land acquistion inworld and pay our monthly lease to Linden Lab. Soon we will have to look at ways to generate income. It's definately an adjustment. My grandparents, especially, don't like the Lindens' intrusiveness and hate dealing with all the technology. They want things the way they used to be. Grandma Thetan is more understanding -- especially since she is well aware of how important the Lindens' Grid is to keeping the forces at bay.

I think you could characterize us as happy, but cautious.

It depends on who you mean by "you". I live in SL. My typist doesn't, though.

This really appeals to me because my current title inworld is "Live in Second Life!" It can be read two ways.

As for the first, "living in Second Life", how: I leave it to others to explain but I do blog about my experiences.

And as for why, because I'm happy.

The second way to read my title is "being live", as in, realtime... I believe spontaneous happenings are kewl!

I don't live in SL but my avie does and is currently sleeping with my g/f (please don't tell her you saw me posting when I supposed to be sleeping). My computer is on 24/7 when I'm in town and gets rebooted daily. I'm logged in over 20 hours per day and actively participating about 12 of those hours depending on RL obligations. I'm retired and go skiing in Lake Tahoe for a week every year, spend two weeks every year in Hawaii marlin fishing and hiking the Kilauea volcano. I exercise 5 days a week in a gym and am very healthy. Why am I living in SL? I like playing computer games and SL is the one I'm playing now. I'm also a SF Giants fan who had the privilage to watch Willy Mays and Barry Bonds father play ball together. When I saw there was a convention being held starting on 18 August 2006 I check the Giants schedule and discovered the Dodgers were in town so asked my g/f if she minded me going to SF for the Convention and Giants /Dodgers series. For some reason she doesn't trust other SL residents around me so I can't go during that time but will plan a trip to see the Giants play sometime in August.

I'd say I spend 60% of my free time in SL. That's close enough to check the 'yes' box. :)

some of the answers are more akin to "i play SL a lot".

what is living in SL? maybe svar knows. the life of his avatar governs the realm of possibilities in his rl. svar seems to be sufficiently deeply immersed in sl that his sl gf can influence whether he is allowed to post on the forum or go to a convention in rl.

i guess to me living in sl is when all of the emotional needs of a person are fullfilled primarily in sl as opposed to rl. i would choose this as the criteria because it's impossible to fulfill some very basic physical needs. some physical/emotional needs are arguably fulfilled with/in SL but that's a derivative discussion.

living in sl could also be an ontological shift. it's a different way to engage the world. it's a lifestyle and way of being only accessible to those who strongly privilege the notion of the mind body duality and favour the mind as the source of ones conciousness. i find that this value is implicitely pushed by those who are in some way delibitated in RL and for them SL is a liberating experience. but it seems also completely normal for a lot of others who fall into the cartesian outlook to think of the internet in someelectronic agora way.

people who live in RL occassionally play SL. people who live in SL occasionally play RL. maybe there's some people who balance both. but really there's never a true balance. one thing will be slightly favoured.
