Here my lovely advice Start at one spot on the main grid. Use the plain I'm going to send you, or fly on your own, and explore in a random direction. See something you like? Check it out! If a security script bumps you or tps you, just choose a different direction. edit: all you have to do is click on the outer hull of the plane and select engines on, then it moves like a helicopter (in hover mode). Race mode makes it more plane like!

Welcome to SL! It's a strange, wild wonderful world you've stepped into
I strongly encourage you to go thru the brief tutorial and spend time on help island getting the feel of the controls, the different functions of the user displays. If you've already left help island then take the time to still learn that.
Secondly inventory management is so very important, if you start out organized you're likely to remain so. Trust me as one who has spent countless hours organizing her inventory it's an ugly job. *laughs*

You might want to locate the find button at the bottom of your screen near the middle. I found this very helpful. If you are interested in airports, you can search for sites that have airports. you can also use it to find people and locations that you visited but cannot remember how to find.
The advise to organize your inventory is so very true. As you pickup gifts and freebies or purchase objects, the list in the object folder will get very long. The Landmark folder also can get really long.
Welcome to SL. I enjoy it very much and hope you will also

Go visit the Ivory Tower of Primitive to learn how to build. (Use the find feature, search in the places tab) Everyone should have at least basic skills in building.

Baim, one thing I think you'll find is that (for the most part) other SLers are very helpful. We're proud of this world we inhabit -- it is truly unique. So never be shy about asking for help or advice (asking for money, however, is a no-no). Some of my own tips I would urge on new people: * Treat others with respect at all times and it will be returned. * Don't randomly invite other people to be "Friends" -- it doesn't hurt anything but it will be more meaningful if you interact with them first and find out if you have something in common. * By the same token, don't map your friends and TP to their location without asking first. Nor should you send random TPs to people without asking first. * Great newbie spots to get you some inventory bloat They include Yadni's Junkyard, the GNUbie center, The Shelter. * If you want to learn how to build/script, check out the Ivory Tower of Primitives (even if you don't want to build, I recommend the first couple floors just so you know how to handle prims); the Particle Laboratory and Robin's Texture Tutorial. * Figure out how to use Find - the fewer criteria you enter, the more results you get. For more specific results, enter more complete criteria. "Clubs" will get you every place that has "clubs" in its description. * Use the Events tab to find out what's going on at the moment, and use the Groups tab to find Groups that you might be interested in joining -- this is a big one. Networking with other people with common interests will help you enjoy SL even more. Some groups are open to anyone who wants to join, and you can click the "Join" button right on the screen. Others you may need to IM the group officers and ask about membership. Have fun - it really is your world.

Get yourself a weapon that provides the biggest Priapus rivalry you can find. I'll dig through my inventory and send you one of the spare ones I have.

You might enjoy learning to build. That's one thing I did when started, went to the sandbox areas and played with building and scripting. The building system is simple enough that learning to use it is fun in and of itself. You can get help with building through some tutorials by The Sojourner, a copy of this is housed at the headquarters of a group that helps new users in a number of different ways, the New Citizens Group, aka NCI.
Another group you might want to hook up with is the Shelter, also a group that provides help in various ways to new users. The Shelter also runs some nice games that are enjoyable by residents of any duration.
