How come there aren't any websites that review objects and content that people produce?

Or hell, even forum threads?

Lack of demand?

Difficulty of keeping people from making fake reviews, personal attacks, etc. if it's a user review sort of place?

There are some but you don't know about them?

Would a negative review be considered a personal attack?

every item on SLEX has a disccusion thread associated with it i think? think it even flags the people as to who has purchased the item through SLEX.

The SLEX approach is good enough. User reviews listed as comments.

In these forums there is a high probability a personal attack would follow within a few posts, along with some competitors saying there's is better, some comments about how the product sucks made by people who were paid to do so by competitors, and enthusiatics agreements from people paid to do so by the maker of the reviewed object. Also attempts to turn it into a Furry/Gorean/Pie controversy/joke/idiocy-fest.

You want forum thread reviews?
Ok your thread is a 10 outta 10. GOOD JOB!

at PXP I like to review furniture & homes too but I don't know if new stuff are released as often as new outfits are.
If there's someone who wants to be a new furniture & homes reviewer (like u LF) then by all means, I'd read it. I know barnes has a blog about it.

Plus sticking a chair on your head & runing around w/ it isn't as fun. (thought feel free to try anyway)

As mentioned SL Exchange has an excellent system, both blind ratings, ratings with reviews, and a discussion forum. The big advantage with their site is you have to actually buy the product in order to rate it, leaving the product discussion area as the only place for people to (cheaply) bad-mouth something.

Despite this service, I will be offering something similar at SLHandbook by this time next weekend, though it will obviously take time to build up a comparable product list. Much of the site is being modeled on amazon.com's interface flow, so for products there will be reviews, comment areas, ability to upload related images and more. You will also be able to construct themed lists of products as you will able to do with parcels.

The question for you Lordfly is whether to meet your goal I need to support an owner's ability to upload a product rather than just creators.

Barnes sort of reviews building things in his blog

http://contentconfessional.blogspot.com/

there's also number of sites with opinions on new releases, mostly fashion-centric though

http://www.pixelpinuponline.com/
http://lindenlifestyles.com/
http://blog.secondstyle.com/
http://www.yourfreespace.net/users/merlyn-bailly/np_report.html

reviews mostly focus on high quality items though, since negative reviews tend to receive negative reviews themselves, so to speak.
