So I understand people sometimes get attacked in the wilder and woolier parts of SL. I see lots of shields for sale. But I also see guns advertised as "going the any/all shields." What's the point of a shield, then? Is this something I need when my natural charm and fetching avator don't keep me out of trouble?

The shields vs guns arms race has always been an odd one. The honest truth: Shields were made because they were fun to make and use. They really are not as effective as just sitting in most cases, as any push gun that can overwhelm sitting will vape a shield in nothing flat. Overall, I just think people use them so they don't have to sit down and look silly while someone is shooting them with an orbiter. Then again, what do I know? I'm a Fool!

Shields are useless, if youre not in a killzone in SL ,sit on a prim nothing can move you then.
SL could do with a option to have push not work on av, to avoid all the random griefing around tho ; p

Push on Avs is needed for several travel devices. There are many good uses of them, one of them being push off a chair when you're getting off so that you don't end up standing on the chair. What we need is a way to restrict how and when Avs are affected.

The option to turn push off on a parcel is coming soon, if I recall correctly.
I won't be using it, I'll just AR anyone using pushguns, but for some places it will be very useful.
