Is this rude?

I'm new here. I've been using Alt+left mouse button to zoom around and look closely at other avatars. Can you tell when another player is doing this to you? Is it considered rude? I don't want to offend anyone, but there are a lot of interesting things to see. Thanks

Zoom away...noone knows when UR doing it. And I dare say most people put a lot of time and thought into their look so WANT some lookers.

Your avatar's face will turn toward the direction you are focusing your mouse at.

They will be able to tell that you have your camera anchor positioned on them or on something next to them - but they will not be able to tell where your camera actually placed at the moment, or how far it is zoomed.

Best thing to do is run an experiment with someone - i'd be happy to demonstrate.

Overall - go ahead and stare at people. Most of them are actually looking forward for it.

You're asking if it's okay to use your cam to upskirt people you meet in your adventures here. In answer: no one can tell when you're doing it.

But don't get too excited; a lot of those skirts are going to be worn by people who are dudes in RL. Caveat Cam Peeker.

Closely examing an av standing around outside or in a club or mall is perfectly acceptable. People can see your av looking in their general direction, but that's about it.

Moving your camera through walls to look at someone is generally considered impolite, while looking into someone's house to watch them, ummmmm, snuggle, errrr, yeah, snuggle, that's it, with a loved one is almost always considered rude.

(If after examing an av, you decide that they look really good - rate them on appearance. I don't think anyone minds getting ratings )

Along these lines, did Tab as "face the last person who chatted" go away when I wasn't paying attention? I'm beginning to feel somewhat "rude" for staring at the ground or sky when chatting with someone.

Yes, I know that probably means I projecting way too much onto my avatar (which looks better at a distance, better still at a long distance ).

Seems to work when I'm standing. But sometimes it doesn't seem to work. I zoom in and check people out. panning cameras into rooms where people are snuggling is a little wrong.

No one can tell when you look up a girls skirt - but she will not appreciate your sending her a snapshot of what you saw, honest!

There is a debug feature that allows you to see where people's zoomed out camera is. It shows up as crosshairs that move about depending on where they look.

I'm allways alt panning. Often when people invite me to their place first thing i do when i arrive is cam the heck through their place, while chatting. Then they allways say: "come let me show you around". I allways feel a bit silly then, because i seen it all already.

Me too. But usually the tour is false pretenses to lour me into a trap. Either a bed or a cage of some sort.

I had some GIRL do that to me once. I forgot to wear panties under a dress. She not only sent me a photo but a pair of panties too. Apparently she was the pantie police.

i havent checked this in a long time but there is a option in the debug menu to show camera ancor positions. It places +'s wherever people are looking. Il have to see if its still available. I dont remember it being removed.

The same panty police must have been at a Tringo game I used to host one night. Same thing happened to me. Not my fault clothing designers don't throw in a pair of panties with their dresses hehehe.

Well before the "painted on" options .. I tried an attachable "bit" and was somewhat taken aback by neighbors offer to help me position it better. And here I thought we were just chatting ... but he was busy camming up my skirt the whole time ~ kinda made me feel a bit weird and wondered if he spyed in my house too

For the most part, caming into peoples faces is the done thing, I do it, not only to look at who I'm talking to but to make the texture rez better lol, especially if they're wearing custom skins/makeup..
