I was wondering why this is, and whether this could be why the fastest framerate I ever get is around 12.

Says the same thing about mine. It's a Pentium 4 640, 3.2 gigahertz, with a Grantsdale-G i915G motherboard chipset.

Why does it say "unsupported"?

EDIT: And why did I say "not be supported"? Could I mess up on my grammar any more?

What are the rest of your system specs? SL usually says that if your graphics card isn't on the list.

I've run into that 'unsupported' problem a few times... even got that response from LL tech support..... however, I messed with the settings of SL and everything is fine....

Try unchecking 'autodetect settings'

That's probably SL filler text --indicating the method for checking the CPUID isn't supported-- rather than something telling you that your CPU is obsolete or some such. I've only ever seen it on certain P4s. I wouldn't worry about that.

It's the Product ID, not KEY. It cannot be used to the same way as a Product Key. It is used by Microsoft support and other Online support sites.

I seem to recall Micihi started a thread a while back about the atrociously poor performance of systems using the dual-core P4's and such like. She ran a series of thorough benchmark tests.

The outcome being that i decided to stick with my crusty old 2.8gHz socket-478 P4.

I use that vid card (GF FX 5500) and had the same problems due to driver updates. Ensure you are using the current one 8.4.2.1

If you are using an older one, SL will not run. Neither will it with the newer one beyond 8.4.2.1 on some machines. This is a case by case issue though, as some I have talked to are running the beta driver and having no issues while others can't run SL with it.

Good luck

~Jessy

EDIT :: P.S. Don't ask me why the cideo drivers affect CPU support. I jsut read what's on the screen, not understand why it is.

My P4 has been saying this not supported stuff for almost 2 years. I was told it was becaus SL doesn't fully support the hyperthreading.

BTW I get excellet framerates 50-110 FPS at home on Dragon Isle.
