What do you think SL needs? What type of builds, scripts, avatars, building tools, scripting tools, plants, animals, minerals, improvments to dwell, less lag, more stippend, less stippend, gov't, no gov't.... to make it a better place?

This is a very open topic I just want to know what ppl think SL needs in their opinion.

Thanks :)

The ability to upload our own avatar models.

OK, we know that mesh prims won't happen, too many prims, too many megabytes have to be thrown around. Wbut what about custom avatar meshes? There's only 40 avs per sim, not 15,000. Letting us design the mesh and bones for them wouldn't break anyone's bandwidth or CPU power.

Build a mesh and a skeleton, upload it. If the skeleton isn't the standard one, you have to provide a full set of animations for it as well, and you don't get to use the appearance editor or standard clothes, all you can do is drop UV maps on the mesh and scale the whole thing.

That would handle non-human avs, as well as people who want GGG+ boobs, and give people a chance to do something about the weird things that have been hapanning to the male avatar model.

On the other hand, making it connect with the skeleton would be a bugger.... :D

Be nice if LL would try cennecting with the *existing* skeleton and mesh. Have you ever looked what the current mesh does Put a bit of fat on and watch this huge groove appear between the chest and the stomach when you sit down.

A more robust physics model.

A customizable-by-user client.

Better integration with the "outside" world.

SL could use some of this. Especially the avatar system:

The defense rests.

Uploadable and scriptable meshes(script functions for moving vertices etc). A limited number of low polygon meshes isn't unreasonable, even today. Having lots of huge meshes on the mainland may not currently be feasible, but bandwith gets cheaper so it could be in a couple years. Where I live I can get a 20Mbps connection for the same price as a 256Kbps connection was 6 years ago.

I think private sims should get the option to have something like a button on the map that could be clicked to download all the content on the sim instead of streaming it. That would be useful for having lots of meshes etc. on the sim.

Subdivision surfaces. Which algorithm to use and the number of iterations as prim parameters.

Procedural textures

NURBS

More than one texture per face and normal mapping, parallax mapping and displacement mapping.

Reflective prims, something like cube mapped reflections.

Better physics with PPU cards in the sims' servers.

A more low-level API.
