I've always wondered this too... Maybe this one is for Torley at "Second Life Answers"?

irradically randomly apparently Thats what triggered my want to post.. I've seen it reset when 50 threads were showing, just a little while ago there were 279.. However I thought this would be one of those things someone would swoop in on and tell me how obvious it was ![]() _____________________

usually forum software takes your last login and checks to see how many new post were entered between then and when you sign on again...
considering LL cant seem to use an admin login and click 3 buttons to fix the 1.7 forum i would assume that this is still the default behavior |

Someone applied a session timout hack when there were complaints about spending significant time composiing a post only to press submit and get a "session timeout" response and an eaten message.
"New Posts" has appeared to act more or less randomly since then. _____________________

vBulletin's default session cookie lasts for 15 mins, but that can be adjusted in the admin settings.
Oh, and they should really upgrade to 3.5. _____________________

What a question... wish I knew too. I haven't discerned a pattern when it comes to this--yet!
