I've been pretty vocal in defending LL, and as far as that goes, I still think they normally do a great job, all things considered. I don't hate SL, and I don't hate LL, either.

But let's just be honest: this update is up there with the worst updates ever. The snapshot interface? What were you thinking? Put it back the way it was! And I swear, I swear I'm getting into situations when building where I can't Escape out of a selection like I used to, which is just horrible.

Is there anything good about this update? I haven't found it yet. All I've found is things that are worse than they were before.

Please, for your next update, just return us to the previous version? You could honestly claim to have made significant improvements to the game just by doing so, at least as compared to where we are now.

Well, I don't mind the snapshot interface and its nice having additional options. Will take some getting used to, yes, but It's not bad.

but...I will agree this is not one of the best updates we have experienced. The number of bugs per features ratio is waaaay off track on this one sadly. I understand a lot of back end changes are being made and that always results in bugs...but this one does seem to have far too many bugs even still.

Although I don't fully understand it all yet, I actually think I like the new snapshot options, although the fullscreen-freeze thing does kinda bug me. I've never used any other program or game that behaved that way for screenshots.

However, last night, my friends and I encountered bug after bug after annoying bug, all of which I'll be spending most of my playtime tonight filing reports about. Before this, the only update-related issues I had were random crashes post 1.10 (has gotten worse with 1.11) and that inventory silliness that was introduced a few weeks ago.

Options are great, and i like several of them they have in there, however, to me, teh point of options is to add to something. and once again LL has decided to set soemthing as complicated and un user friendly as possible, and then use negitive checkoffs for options to make it simplier again..why?...most of teh options would be just fine as Menu options, not something you need up for every picture. and the freeze frame should be a option, not the default, i love to catch expressions and action pictures and i do not see any way to be able to do that any more. It is not a matter of just getting used to it, it is something that will not work with my style of photgraphy.
One of teh biggest issues i have heard about is how hard the interface is to learn for newbies, so why make what was simple and effective more complicated as a default instead of making all those features optional?

Definitely need a rollback, I crashed clicking the "Buy" button, on a clothing item.
I crashed closing a notecard. I crashed closing a profile.
This has got to be one of the most half baked patch I've yet seen. We lose client stability for what, a change in UI Angles, new features for taking snapshots that hardly work. Oh, goodie,
how about next time release a fix, instead of a jumble of unneeded "add ons", so far all I've these so called "add ons" was an addition to the number of crashes per day. Oh well, all you can do is grin and bare it, I guess.

Excellent points and ones I actually tend to agree with.

I also find the new system (having now used it a bit more today) to be clumsy and slow for my style. I appreciate the options and can see the value of the freeze frame in some situations. But I do agree it would be better if they had made all of it options. The freeze frame, the fallaway effect, and all of it. Make it options so that all styles of use are still possible.

But...personally, the changes to the text fields that no longer scroll when the mouse reaches the end of the field and the many huge bugs are my real concerns. This may be the first update I could consider asking LL to withdraw until the bugs are worked out better. Some of the risks and issues introduced are too big for me to consider acceptable...and what happened in Taco today is a perfect example why.

i agree there are more important issues and problems with this update than teh snapshot interface and they need to be addressed FASt but i guess why this one has me so worked up is, i feel liek i have lost my creative outlet i LOVE taking pictures and with this new system it just has taen any and all joy out of it for me

Many, many, many new bugs. Even the letters in my IM messages and whatnot are all fouled up, like they were typed on an old-fashioned typewriter, not even lined up, but with some letters jumping higher.

I hate the new snapshot thing. I hate the flashing, and I hate the idea that I'm goiing to have to figure out now how to make them not be blurry when uploaded. (I also figure this is a way of charging more for better quality snapshots eventually.)

I found the eyedropper and checked that, and I guess that's cool, but I don't think I will need to use it much. Meanwhile, all my saved colors have been turned black. Thank goodness I wasn't in the middle of a build needing them! (I often put my colors in those slots when I'm doing a build.) Who knew those would disappear? I haven't worked with textures yet, but I'm not looking forward to that from what I've heard.

*Edit: I just realized it wouldn't have mattered if I had been in the middle of the build, because I could have just used the eyedropper, lol!

Tonight I realized that one reason my FPS was so terribly lousy that I can't walk without walking into the ground or do ANYTHING without a wait involved since the update was because my settings had been altered back to something (what the program thinks your computer will do best at when you first open your account). So lighting and shiny and things like that were checked ON!

Even taking them back off, my FPS was still literally twice as bad as it used to be. I'm still walking into the ground, still having to wait for almost everything I click on to actually happen. This is new for me.

I hate whatever that thing the pie menu is now doing, which seems to do nothing but take more time to make it come up and work.

All in all, this has been the worst update for me personally. Other updates other people have hated haven't affected me adversely really. But this one - this one is such that I DREADED logging on again tonight. And for good reason! lol

I'm not used to dreading logging on, so that is kind of a new feeling, and not one I like. I hope these things get fixed. But - I really don't get the point of updates when they have very little for us to enjoy (except for maybe some people who want the world to stop so they can take pictures from many different angles without anyone seeming to move), and so very much to fear, with so many things made worse.

I think they make the updates for them, really, not for us. I hope things are better in the future.

Am I alone in the fact my preferences are totally out of wack??? My text colors keep reverting to all black when I log in, some of my settings keep going back to the default, and until around 7pmslt some of my hud attachments wasnt woking right!

Im with you guys they need to roll these thigs back and start over and rebuild everything they tried to "upgrade" us to!

I don't like this update or the new snapshot interface. the snapshots now look very bad.

lag is out of control, I lag so bad now and didn't before the update. my scripted objects like for example my collar go craze every time I cross a sim obarder or teleport and looks for my owner and offers me to my owner repedly. This is every sim cross or teleport. very annoying.

stuff doesn't rez very well now. In all I don't like this update. I want the old version back before the wensday update.

oh yes. my chat system object and other collors never stay how i set them, after relog its all back to black.

coco

it is now animated, the outter ring starts larger and scales in to its normal size, the wedges now fade in.

but its soo fast you cant hardly see it, and every time i right click on something i take a nice dive in FPS , if your computer was allready on the threshold of performance these new aimations and badly implemented UI passe 1994 tricks are just system cycle leaches for no real gain

badly implemented?

/142/cd/122436/1.html

when i finally counted the snapshots that i couldnt stop the total was 137, in less than 5 min
glad i wasnt saving them as textures, i wasnt really in the mood to get told to Pis .. off loosing 1,370 bucks to linden labs over a linden labs failure

OK, but there is supposed to be some purpose to the pie menu doing that, right? If so, what is it?

good question, animaited BS for a UI is something that ppl did in the late 80's and early 90's, "this computer is cool becuase it zooms and fades its windows", its usually considered lame by the mid 1990's becuase of the resource drain, and even current software doesnt do it

or if they do its subtle (windows 2k or better) unlike this spastic "look what i can do" kiddie crap

edit PS:

if LL wants to make the system fresh and exciting it should focus on better script systems, faster graphics, cleaner more orginised UI (not just the same cluster UI with even more crap in weird places) im not one for the MIDI vote, but i would love to see a soft-synth system where i can take samples uploaded to SL and change pitch speed ect (instead of uploading a 100mb wave file cut up in peices) - thats probally just me tho
