Hi,
I'm not sure where to post this, but I need something developed and am considering a competition to find the most suitable person/team to build it.
What is a good competition format?
For example, amongst several things, I need different 'houses' that would fit on 2048 sq.m. land, comfortably ... in a specific style that I'd supply. I'd like copy/modify rights on which ever ones won ...
Specific questions are, what would be a suitable prize for the winner and what would be a suitable payment in exchange?
Thanks Leon

I guess that would depend on the quality you're looking for. If you want really solid results, you'd want to make prizes available in the tens of thousands of L$.

I'd expect quality! I'd also be willing to make the prize suitable. Is is suitable to assume that the 'winner' would 'sell' the design (with copy/mod rights) in exchange for the prize. Would it be reasonable to expect exclusive rights to the design, i.e. that it may not be sold to someone else as 'given' to me? Thanks Leon

Sorry, while I remember. Where do I 'announce' competitions? Is there a forum dedicated to it? Do you run it as an event!

It would be listed in the Events inworld, and on the forum in, perhaps, Special Attractions... but I'm wondering why you just don't look around at what some of the SL architects make, decide whose work fits in with your idea, then commission that person to create exactly what you want. It seems to me that would be better - you must have your reasons, however.

The house is probably easy to find someone for, but the 'other' stuff I think I need are a little more out of the ordinary? Anyway, a competition/event might just bring out a 'new' talent? Leon

It's incredibly difficult to find 'new' talent. For instance, to round out West Trade, I've made a business arrangement with a clothier that is working out rather well, I think. (I don't make clothes, myself) In fact, I'm still looking around *carefully* for another type of creator to add to West Trade, but if I say it out loud I'll get many, many resumes - no thanks. I like to approach the unsuspecting - and hopefully a relative newcomer who would be stunned and surprised at such an offer. With regard to homes - a single, really decent prefab home design may take weeks to create, but then easily net over 100 USD income a month toward its creator. Not all do, of course. Certainly not all of mine. But if you want something truly of quality, you might be competing against the 100 USD / month potential.
