You dont have to buy gift boxes you can either make your own or simply use a board with the picture on...you can use a vendor or put up posters either work very well tho I've done both I prefer the posters if you have the prim space....Hope all works out for ya!

Estelle, Create a box prim, put your items into it (via the "Content" tab of the build menu), then in the "General" tab of the build menu, you can set the box "For sale". If you check "Copy" a copy of the box with the clothing will be sold (the buyer will have to unpack), if you check "Contents" it will end up in a folder in the buyer's inventory. The folder will be named like the object. Of course don't forget to add a picture on the selling prim There are a lot of basic and fancy vendor solutions out there if you are short of prims at your vendor space rental, but the config and set up is different for each type of scripted vendor.

The most common method I have seen is to package your merchandise in 'boxes' consisting of a single prim that you texture with a picture of the item. The merchandise is dropped into the contents of the prim. I usually use cubes, and put the same pic on all six faces. Some sellers flatten the cube, and put the image on the flat surfaces. Then you put those 'packaged' items in your vendor, to sell.
Boxing stuff like that allows you to pass out more than one item when a purchase is made. Even if it's a single clothing item, like a t-shirt, you might want to package a notecard and/or a store landmark in with it.

Estelle - There are quite a few vendor packages out there: some of them are free, but come with a limited amount of 'bells and whistles'. Others are rich with neat features, but come at a price. Each of them operates differently, and some of them are more difficult to figure out than others. Personally, my preference is the open-source passive low-lag vendor that was posted to the Scripting Tips forum. I have a mod of that vendor that is additionally low-prim, and still open source. I use them for the free newbie vendors at the Shelter. If you'd like a copy, send me an IM in-world, and I'll drop you a folder with them when I get home from work tonight

Before you set up a vendor, make sure you first understand 'next owner' permissions and what they allow your customers to do with items they purchase from you.

I would recommend to get a second account too (you can have several on one credit card), so that you can test the permissions, vendors and the whole "customer experience" properly. It can save you quite some headaches.

It can save you quite some headaches. That's a great suggestion. You need to be able to examine your products in exactly the same way your customers will. Having an alternate account is essential for conducting responsible business.
