Does not record non-physical attacks.
GG Linden Labs....you fail.
What does this mean? Freebie guns with collision based physics and pushes are detectable.
The REAL problem, which is sensor targetting, non-physical push weaponry....are not.
Is it just me or is LL carefully stepping around the grief issue as to not step on the toes of the weapons and shields development group?
I mean theres no way to AR someone using a non-physical attack. Theres no way to document and prove it. Theres NO WAY TO DETECT IT unless a Linden is on the scene WHEN its happening and knows what scripts to look for in the top level scripts for a sim.
So basically, its like a free lunch to grief. Roll up alts, buy a PsiTec and voila...you are GOD and nobody can do anything about it.
This is unacceptable.

They need a built in shield for all avatars you can switch on and off.

From: Alexander Laws They need a built in shield for all avatars you can switch on and off. They just need a way to detect non-physical attacks. I have no problem with weapons in SL, but if someones going to be using them in a hostile manner outside sims where open combat is allowed...then there should be consequences for such actions..and currently there are none! Because it can't be proven that you did anything. The entire crux of the non-physical weaponry problem is that it puts an AR into the arena of your word versus theirs, and thusly it is immediately thrown out by the Abuse Department because there is no actionable evidence.

I personally think the Lindens should develope a free shield that is just as good (If Not Better) as the really expensive shields you can currently buy.

No. I goto combat zones because it isn't laggy and I don't want shot. I test things that might make others angry in combat zones and it is really annoying being attacked when I have done nothing to anyone else. Even sandboxes are laggy for me. I can only be in really deserted areas with few buildings.

This is unacceptable. Oh good, and here i was, afraid i wasted all that Money on a Top Notch Orbitter. Seriously though, I agree Fully, this is Insufficient. we DO need a method to Document Non Physical attacks. This is useful as far as it goes, But it just doesn't go far enough. Angel.

Huh?
I tested this earlier, I hit a friend with a sword I made which ONLY does llPushObject (). (ie: It's a script on an attachment I wear that does a direct non-physical object push against you.)
And it said, "Fenrir Reitveld has pushed you with a script" in my friend's Hit, Bumps, and Pushes. (Good lord, LL couldn't you have come up with something that rolled off the tongue a bit easier?)

I've since been nudged, bumped, grinded, humped, rubbed-on, and fondled.... none of those people appeared in my list (

So the big improvement is that we can detect pushes under some (but apparently not all) circumstances.
But we can't cut and paste from the PvP log, and you can't tell the attacks from the business-as-usual interactions with your environment.
And if you could, the big problem still remains: the fact that the abuse reporting system is nearly pointless because of its inefficacy.
Sure looks like a window-dressing change to me...

From: Wrom Morrison Or better still in your own profile, an option to turn off pushes on yourself. I'd LOVE this. Seriously. This should have done before 6/6/06. Just a simple checkbox and Linden sandboxes go back to being useful. Right now, I spend at least a good portion of my time in Sandbox Island filing AR's. Well, sadly, they wanted the sandboxes to be the showcase of building skills... they got it.

From: Wrom Morrison Or better still in your own profile, an option to turn off pushes on yourself. Wrom, while I would love to see that happen I don't think it's going to work in combat sims. LL has mentioned that a push toggle was coming soon as another parcel option and that may be the better solution. Let the land owners disable push attacks. The ultimate solution to griefing is to take away their ability to grief. Make it so boring for them they leave and go back to their Counterstrike clan.
