Are Lindens allowed to run a business in SL on an alt account?
Someone mentioned they aren't, so I would just like to know the answer, thanks...

They have the same priviledges and problems as us on their alts (except perhaps free tier and subscription, most likely), and while them having an alt acocunt run a business would not be good, sending large sums of free money to that account would be unethical. I trust they hold themselves to a standard of ethics and morals.

About a year or so ago there was a posting of the Linden Lab Employee Regulations handbook (I tried to find the post, but forum search wasn't working for me...). As I recall, LL employees are permitted to join groups under alternate accounts but are *not* permitted to cash out L$ (the manual said "trade L$ on third-party sites", since this was pre-exchange nationalization). Since they have brought currency exchange in-house that clause may have changed.

That's what I was talking about. It had been posted in the forums previously. If I can't dig the post up, would you mind posting the text here?

According to the LL employee guidebook, Lindens can have alts, as long as they don't tell other residents about it. All transactions they do with their Linden account are audited each month. They don't get free money or tier on their regular accounts.
