Apparantly. Happens WAY too often for a "critical e-commerce site" in my opinion.

Didn't they used to post here whenever they had a planned outage? Or shouldn't they? I can only imagine it was not planned...

4+ hours. Not one word from ANY of SLEX's representatives or big-name business partner.

Has anybody else seen an explanation for this latest outage? It came back up after ab out 5 hours or so but I've just checked the SLX forums and there is no mention of any downtime at all and I haven't seen a post on these forums either.

Hrmm. Is it just me or do people seem to have been scared away from SLExchange since the hacking incident a few days ago?
I was doing very brisk sales from SLX up until then and haven't had a single sale since. Maybe its just my sales have dropped off now on the new products, and it happened to correspond to the outages...but I was wondering what others have experienced the past few days with sales from SLX after these odd outages started? _____________________

Zoe, with all respect, the odd outages at slexchange have been going on for months. It's frequently unavailable at around midnight to ~3am PST time.
As for my sales, they've been slowing for a while on slexchange, but whether that's because I haven't added anything new or because people aren't using slexchange as much I don't know. _____________________

Thank you for the information, Moopf. I have only been using SLX for a few weeks myself, so I was unaware that these outages were that common.

The downtime is explained here:
http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2904 As far as I am aware, the common middle-of-the-night problems were resolved some time ago. Two backup processes were running at the same time on the same files, and other nightly scheduled jobs have been shuffled around so they don't cause contention with each other. Our traffic and sales numbers continue to increase at the same or slightly higher pace than Second Life, percentage-wise. I see no indication of people being "scared away", nor should anyone be. _____________________

And it's inaccessible again right now. The common middle-of-the-night problems are obviously still happening and I've not noticed them ease up for a long time now.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't aware that there was still a problem and I'll look into it as soon as I can.
