It occured to me that most of the people reporting rising griefing activity are likely to be in the same sims. My thoughts on this are based on the crazy notion that griefers, like the rest of us, are inherently {spelling} lazy and don't want to make the extra effort to teleport vast distances to grief something a little out of the way, unless they have a particular hatred of a particular theme, person, or place.
I have experienced only minor griefing over the past month. My land is in Park, which is on the South Continent. As far as I know, there are no welcome areas or anything on the South Continent.
Please let us know what sim you are in, if a Welcome Area is nearby, and what level of griefing you are experiencing.
As some of the griefing may also be caused by zealous nuts, certain establishments, irregardless of sim, may also be targeted more often than not.
Perhaps with enough information, we can come up with a "griefer's target profile" and so determine who is likely to be griefed and who is not.

Riiki, next door to Ambat and its infohub which supplies a vast numer of new and confused players our way but personally no grief to date. Most of the land in the sim is return-enabled but I notice Ambat and a lot of the surrounding sims are littered with flames and cages. There's also not a lot of acivity in Riiki, so no clusters of green to target. My guess would be that those who make it out of the infohub sim and up the road a way towards my place are actually bothered about exploring. The cages are still in Ambat. Whaddaya know, you could be right ;D

My partner has reported repeated griefing in Itame, a sim with only four different owners (either indiv or group as one owner). Char

Meins, pretty much daily, and it's probably partially my fault that they're attracted here, actually.
I own a bit over 1/4 sim, and before all this started, I egotisticly used bright green prims to draw a line around the extent of my property that's visible from the map. Harmless at the time, now it probaably catches the eye and attracts these idiots.
I've taken it down, but with the map not updating, who knows when it's going to disappear from view.
Of course the griefing *has* caused my neighbors and I to get together on security. We now share names for banning, and rights on each-others secirity orbs, so that if someone starts griefing from a neighbors land, thinking they're safe...oops!

Private sim, D/s themed... not so many griefers trying to blow us up, mostly a lot of morons making verbal trouble... coming to stir up conflict. They'll make snide remarks or do somethign blatantly insulting.

Liaison Land, pretty far from any welcome area. The place is crawling with so many shady characters, it's hard to get anything done.

I was attacked several times near Baku, once (no kidding) by a pink power ranger. Fortunatly it was on my land and I love the little poof they make as they are banned. Been seeing alot of fires being set as well in a couple of places and have set my autoreturn to a lower setting

From: Xerses Goff I was attacked several times near Baku Eesh, you have land near Baku? You poor thing. (Baku, along with Satyr, is somethingawful.com territory; I'm not surprised you're getting the obnoxious fallout from being so close.) x_x
