Help Island attacked

Just heard this in world - Help Island #2 was attacked by self-replicating prims a bit ago tonight, filling the sim and blocking people in.

Took 30 minutes for Lindens to show up and clean up the mess.

Shall we call this "karma"?

Can you pass items to people on HI? I thought they had to get to the MG before they showed up on the list.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess they copied and pasted the script to new items.

If you step on a self-replicating prim in the dark, does it hurt as much as a lego?

The proverbial mama just slapped you upside the head and told you to "Pay attention!".

And hopefully not something that becomes habit, what a way to welcome true new people.

Infinitely more painful. Until you pass out, that is and come to with a face full of Windows.

Why on earth would it take 30 minutes for a Linden to show up? If new user retention is so important that they've opened up the floodgates, all logic be damned, you would think they would care a bit more about their own new resident areas. Oh well, if someone doesn't stick around, there are another 100 people in their place. Whee!

Even they think all the new users are alts and teens.

Please bear in mind that this is a third hand report. I only heard that it took 30 minutes to clean up the sim, not that it took 30 minutes for them to respond. My original post may have been unclear.

It's ok, even if they got there is 30 seconds, the bulk of what I said still applies.

In response to this thread, I typed "Help" into the Find Region box on the map.

Instead of giving me a list of Help Islands one and two, the stupid thing auto-complete with Help Island 2, and it won't display just Help Island in a drop down list. Backspace the 2 away and it can't deal with that and show two Help Islands in a drop down list.

So I put in "Orientation" and the freaking thing shows Orientation Island 6 and doesn't give me a list of the Orientation Islands.

I think Second Life is in much more danger from a programming staff that, after over 3 years of supposedly Herculean efforts expended on making a program that is supposed to take the place of the internet and the world wide web in the hearts and minds of the world, produces code that can't display a list of names correctly or reliably display avatars than it is endangered by the occasional attack of self replicating prims.

Darn it I missed the attack!

I really find this hard to believe.

Just an hour ago, I was playing slingo, and had a guy push me around, pull a gun out, pull his xcite thing out. And stand in front of my game box.

I told in live help this was happening to me, instantly the live helper teleported to me, and right after Mia Linden and helped resolve this, my game was not affected by the griever cause of this.

Their response was instance. So I find this hard to believe.

Help island is no longer what it's called anyway.. they should call it what it truely is...

Yeah I kinda doubt the response time was that slow too. We'll find out, I guess.

I'm glad (and surprised) that you got such instant response, but your anecdotal experience doesn't mean that the HI report wasn't correct.

I've been firebombed, shot, orbited and bumped scores of times in the last few weeks, and I have yet to have a Linden show up to help. So using your rules of logic, I could also say I find your story hard to believe.

It was strange, i was in the korean WA when i met these two newbies ( well the said they were ). It turns out they might be griefters as Kenny linden informed me when they asked to return to hi. I really hope they deal with these problems people onces and for all.

You heard your report from a 3rd party. You claim they came after 30 mins.

I, on the other hand experienced this today (by myself), and their response is instance. This is from my own point of view not from some 3rd party's story that you heard.

If you can't believe my story, IM Mia Linden and ask her if she didnt she didn't help me or not.

Did you even bother contacting live help on your abuse?

For the record, I created an alt last night. Before I even logged her in for the first time I sent her some items and cash from my main account. When I finally logged in as the alt I had a full purse and a bunch of nifty new items waiting for me. I left Help Island looking damn good for a minutes-old newb.

I was able to exactly the same thing Wildefire as well as sending my alt a substantial amount of L$.

But thet aren't... I've met a couple wandering lost inworld with no IDEA. But real people. Decent types. It is an incredibly half assed way to treat new potential customers
