Until we get our office in SL set up fully so that people can stop by, i will try and have regular updates of some form for the community. We already sent out our first update through email to candidates who have already responded, but I just thought another update maybe for people that didn't see the original post would be appropriate.
For those of you that haven't ever heard of this. My name is Anders, and I am with Robo Studios a small documentary company in WA. We are doing a documentary about SL and are looking for people willing to be interviewed. You can visit our website www.robostudios.com to learn more about who we are.
Heres a little blurb from the newsletter-
"I think that as we move through this process you will see our “thesis” for the documentary go through several stages. Originally our intent was to focus purely on the economics of SL. Having seen some of the amazing and fascinating simulations and builds, our focus is changing. I think our current thesis could be summarized as such. “Robo Studios intends to make a documentary making the economics of SL seem “real” to the average person. We intend to do this by showing the massive amount of soul, dedication, manpower, persistence, and intelligence that makes SL world and item building so powerful. Our intention is to make SL “real” for the rest of the world”. Obviously this will continue to change over the next couple of weeks. I would like to hear any of your thoughts about this process, about what you see the focus of our “thesis” should be. You are really the professionals and knowledge base here; we just want to document it.
With concerns to filming dates and locations. Next weeks newsletter will contain a link to our available times and slots. What we are going to need everyone to do is sign up initially for an hour and a half pre interview. Probably this will be much shorter, but were going to be pre scouting the location that you want to be shot in. Probably go over some basic interview stuff, a full walkthrough etc. We also will be including with this next newsletter a decision on voice communications. IMPORTANT- We need you candidates to weigh in on how you would like to communicate with us. By phone, skype, ventrilo. All of the footage for this movie will be shot in SL, but to speed things up, to make it interesting, we need your voice to attach to your character. That will leave you time to be doing emotes, walking us around, manipulating objects, instead of typing. So please, weigh in, we would be calling you long distance if using the phones, so it won’t cost you anything. "
If you have any questions please, feel free to ask. Most importantly, if your interested sign up, contact me, get involved.
Thanks,
Anders von Reis Crooks
