I didn't vote because I'm not enthusiastic enough about it to use love or an exclamation point, hehe... but yeah. I think LL should add more zoned sims since there's clearly a demand for it.

Write in option of, "Give us better land management tools and group functionality". Empower and encourage users to group together and create their own themed/zoned areas.

That's a tough one, in some ways it would be nice to have a residential only area, so you know you won't end up being next to a club. I think the only zoned areas they might need are the residential areas, but the only restrictions being no commercial areas (clubs, stores, etc) and no advertising (such as signs). Anything more would be too restrictive in my opinion.

I know that some larger land owners are trying this also with some interesting results. I cannot help but wonder why ppl have not begun to group like ideas on the mainland yet?

What would make it easier?

The probable reason is that if a property is on the main land, it's got an edge with someone else's property. If whatever's beyond that edge gets filled up with blue signs or whatever, then whoever owns/rents that land is getting all the downside of zoning (can't build what they like) but none of the upside (still have to live next to ugly signs). So, probably they'd move away, meaning that the land would either have to be sold (in which case there's a new edge) or held empty as protected land in the zone (and only the really big land barons can afford to do that for any significant area)

Surely you are familiar with the concept of one forum poster being another, more established person in world...

Very true Yumi. There used to be an unwritten law in SL that ppl don't build right up to the property line. They used to leave a few meter buffer zone between themselves and their neighbors. Now I see walls right up to the property line. I guess ppl figure it's their land and they will use every cm of it. Unfortuntaly they haven't figured out yet that we don't even need walls lol. :D

I started in the early days of 1.2

There were tons of builds around from long ago even when I started, many that aren't around today.

I observed no such unwritten rule in play with any more regularity than it is today, either in the people of the time, or in the people of wayback when.

Now, back when land was irrelivent, prims were what mattered... Sure. Plenty of land to go around, no need to crowd, you might get a little less edge-building... But not much, from what I could tell. And that's not been true for a while now.
