I have participated in Previews. I suppose that counts for something. Though generally, everyone beat me to posting whatever feedback I came up with, so I largely stayed silent.

Terraforming tools, custom anims, and LindeX to name three off the top of my head. I'm sure there have been others I haven't been involved with. Regards, -Flip

I've never heard of a usability test being conducted, but I assume it would have to happen locally since they would need to physically observe you. And I'm nowhere near CA, so, no I haven't.

From: Selador Cellardoor 'Usability studies'? arcane branch of software development where someone checks how people use the software, would need to use the software, where they might get tripped up, what people want the software to do, problems people have, problems people are trying to solve, who uses the software, etcetcetc... the who, what, where, when, why, and how of using any given software. not a very well defined process. cousin to the software quality assurance process.

From: StoneSelf Karuna would you still have copies of the survey questions you could share? if they aren't nda'd? I'm sure there weren't NDAs on anything I was ever asked to give feedback on, and not every one had targeted questions. I know the LindeX usability test had questions sent via email, I'll see if I can dig them up; if not, I'm sure someone still has them. If your question was meant to be, "Has Linden Lab ever observed people using in-development versions of their software behind one-way mirrors with videotapes rolling and an list of tasks for people to accomplish?", then I think the answer would be "no". Usability testing, on the other hand, does not imply the need to have targeted feedback questions, tasks to accomplish, or anything in particular. It can be simple observation and/or discussion; in fact, sometimes that is more valuable. Regards, -Flip
