In going through a package of free stuff, I rezzed on the floor of my home, an object that turned out to be a sign, that apparantly would appear over your head if worn.
Of course, the sign is now imbedded in my floor, and I cannot select it to remove it. It will become highlighted when I use the land tools to show my objects, but I still cannot affect it.
What do I need to do to remove this object?

Sounds like the script moved to a floor object.
Right click Edit, go to the Content tab (if it's not on expanded hit More). You might find a script in there, which you'll need to edit - it's just a plain label text, remove the text so it's just "" as a null line.
Then save, close edit mode, and that should fix it.
If that's too much, you can also just delete the prim it's in and replace - but make sure it's not linked first.

Sounds like this might be a titler object (very small and hard to see when rezzed on the ground).
I got one of those free too and lost it when i rezzed it on the ground but I could still see the title floating over the ground.
Try using Ctl-Alt-t to make it easier to see (makes all object appear with a red haze) then do a right click/delete on it.

Lewis Not sure it's actually attached to the floor. I tried moving the floor section away to get better access to it (cause right clicking on the object only selected the floor) and the object remained where it was. It's not text, either.. It's a graphically made sign with an arrow pointing down. I'll check the floor's contents though to make sure.

No problem... the only thing I'd suggest is using "Take" instead of "Delete" in case you do select the wrong thing Lewis

Well, nothing new I've tried has worked so far. There's nothing in the floor, and Ctrl-Alt-t doesn't help. The object, or whatever it is, is very easy to see, so that's not an issue.
What is an issue is that it's basically transparant to selection. While I can mouse-hover it and get hover-text saying what it is, right clicking anywhere on it only selects what's behind it.
The floor it's in is part of a skyhouse. I moved the floor section to get a clear shot - being 450 meters up, there is only blue sky and nothing else to click on.. Even with show objects in the land tools (which did highlight the script it had), I was unable to actually select the object at all.
I could just put a piece of furnature or a plant there to hide it..

I've had that "can't select transparent stuff even though its definitely there" bug myself.
What I normally do is create a box next to it, then Edit, then using the click drag method to highlight an area, select the box you just made plus the offending item... when highlighted, change the transparency so you can click on it, then you should be able to move it.

Lewis Well, that was amazing. After everything else, plus others that came over to give their shot at it, failed, this trick worked. I didn't even have to change the transparancy. Though I should clarify what I meant by 'transparant' - the object wasn't visually transparant, just physically transparant to normal selection.. Anyway, it's gone now. My sanity, what's left of it, is saved! Thanx so much Lewis! :hugz:

Make sure you have the option 'select only movable objects' unchecked.
I had the exact same problem last night. Cause? The unselectable object was Locked.
