Not for lack of trying some 4-5 times. Each time I grind to a halt and SL stops responding. Now previously, these meetings haven't been easy, but with careful strategy I HAVE generally been able to hang in there. So here's my question: Why, oh why, are there rotating seats there? What on earth can be the possible reason for such a thing? Is there some reason why the seating has to go around like a merry-go-round? I figure it is these seats that have crashed me out so bad this time I had a hard time even managing to control-alt-delete myself out of the non-responding SL. Tell ya what - why not add some MORE stuff to these rotating bleachers. Maybe a buncha PRIM HAIR OR SOMETHING. coco
P.S. Let me point out that I started trying an hour and a half before the talk was originally supposed to start - when there were far fewer people there, and it was still nigh onto impossible.
WHAT THE HECK IS IT WITH THESE BENCHES that float in mid air, refuse to let you sit on them ("you're not in the right region to sit here" even though the dang thing is right BEHIND YOU, no matter how many times you try with different rotating benches) and ROTATE like a MERRY-GO-ROUNDon top of it all!

It's just another sign that LL are loosing touch with the poor virtual reality of their universe...

coco Dunno if you got my in-world message, but I was laughing about the rotating bleachers myself. What a genius move that was. Yeah, lets move avatars over sims lines, continuously, at an already lagged-to-hell event This last crash though, seemed to happen after a giant, segmented green object was dropped on center stage. Hey! Let's open the floodgates on account registration, so we can prove that our system cannot handle the load! Hurrah! (No, not just referring to the event - I can't even log into my home point now) Sometimes LL is it's own worst enemy.

Well it's just happened again since I've been there (3 or 4 times in total). Why on earth they didn't set these sims to no build no script for the duration of these talks is beyond me. That would get rid of this problem. It's needless - the tools are there to deal with this.

It's a massive multi-torus object that's also scripted and changes colors by the looks of it. It's only the sim that's crashing, not the whole of SL, so nothing to do with the system not handling the load, just the individual sim. The tools are already in place to stop this sort of thing from happening, why they haven't been used bemuses me.

No, I didn't get it, Nolan.
It is just SOOOO irritating. You'd think if they were going to give a talk to a whole bunch of people they would do the best they could to limit the lag. Not to mention the giant dropping objects and whatnot.

Well, I am guessing something is strained beyond that one sim - I can't log in elsewhere in world.

Agreed Moopf. Frans Charming said it best just before the monstrous prim appeared and I crashed out for the third time... "Can we please set this to No-Build?" or wording to that effect.

The seating was not rotating when I was there.
I think the bleachers as a whole are too big to be a linked object and hence can't be rotated as a single unit.
The bleachers weren't rotating when I was there last night when Hamlet Au was chatting.
Maybe there was a rotating light and you put your focus on that?
Or maybe I'm talking about different seating than you are.
Doesn't matter now I can't log in. Oh well, the big meeting wasn't going to be a fun anyway. Meetings are never fun.

Blue was responding, claiming the rotating wasn't causing issues. Maybe you were lagged so much you couldn't detect the movement? After the second time I crashed I hovered, instead of sitting, and people were moving by me from right to left, as if they were sitting in one of those rotating hotel cocktail lounges you see in RL. By the way, the person dropping the giant linked tori prim is a member of the Anniversary Party Volunteer group, and is still logged in at this time.

Yes, they were rotating, all right.
By about the third time I tried to attend this, I stopped trying to even sit down, and yes, the benches were slowly rotating past me.

coco I got back, I see them rotating now. I think I was at a different place last night, and they were out of my field of view wyhen I was there a few minutes ago. I think they'd have to be "rotating" those using setpos and setrot. Well, I got disconnected again, red minimap. Surely the rotating seats are bigger than the maximum link distance. Can't even investigate them now. It might be best to stay out of Fortuna, Brilliant, Bethel, and Georgean. Back in again. The rotating section hasn't all appeared. The bleacher didn't rotate till I clicked on it. A good bit of it didn't even appear till I clicked on a part that was showing. I think it was a bad idea.

The seats indeed rotate slowly...its a waste of scripting.

There are 58 people in one sim, 38 in another, 30 in another, and for some reason one of the sims only has 3 people in it.
I think the crowd may be part of the reason for the lag. 58 is a lot for one sim.
Objects that cross sim borders may look like they are in one sim but be in another in the simulator's point of view. Used to bug me trying to sit on the fountain at Ahern-Morris-Bonafacio-Dore. The fountain crossed the junctioin, to the eye you were clicking correctly, to the simulator you were clicking on something in another sim.

Well, next meeting let's place it on a completely flat island with nobuild/noscript and force everyone on that sim to use one of two default avs (male and female).
Or just hold the thing on IRC....
