Groups that charge fees are bad >:(

For example, the Law society of SL. Charges $200 just to join (the problem is when you've got an aloof person like me who thinks the Fee to join still says $0 and clicks 'Join')
Then they charge tier fees every week of $25L. All for what?! The group is dead - there is no conversation at all, nothing!
Please don't create groups like this!!

Please don't create groups like this!! If the group is dead and you don't like how they are setup, why are you in it? People are free to set up groups any way they like.

It's usually seen as a control to keep people from arbitrarily joining and griefing groups open to public membership. Compare it to social clubs charging initation fees and dues.
If the group isn't worth the money, drop it. I've left more groups to get away from incessent chatter than I have from lack of activity. Or, if you feel invested, start conversing, recruiting, and initiating projects. Steer the group into what you thought you were joining in the first place.
