This did turn out well for a little while. Anybody have other pictures? I was only a poor human boy and couldn't afford many.

Please tell the story of Kissling, Khamon. Are there lessons to be learned?

I think Kissling is a very cool sim, way up there in the sky. I'm hoping to see it "brought" back so to speak.

I like to get in something that flies and shoot through that gorge. It's a great bit of landscaping.

I always thought Kissling was sort of completely random and didn't fit in with the rest of the landscape. I mean, you've got Boardman there, and then... WABAM, 70 meter plateau!
![]() The Nomad's shop is in Kissling, and that was the first shop I stumbled on; great place to explore, absoultely dense with content. That place should be designated a historical landmark. ![]() _____________________

LOL I remember when the hotest news in SL was the great height debate of Kissling. "ohh whats going on up there?" "oh I heard they are having a huge feud and someone sold group land that wasn't really theirs" "omg its a little city how kewl" "oh geez its just all stores, yawn" "I bet they are really all lindens who built that, no one here is that organized" "did the nexus group do this too?"

It was a pretty flat green landscape, checkerboarded to hell and back by Charlie Omega and his gf... who was it... Lensey Roark? Someone with an L name anyway. Charlie had gamed the crap out of beta. You could have unlimited alts so he muled them for cash. Nobody could ever afford the taxes on it, but it was ok, since you could only go down to about -1000 and nothing happened to your land or prims if you didnt pay your taxes... _____________________

If I search the forums on kissling (time frame anyone?) will I have a better feel for the plot of this story? Man, I feel like I'm watching the movie "Momento".
![]() Can I have another hint, like why did this come up now? _____________________

I miss the old movie theatre. It was rather prim heavy, and probably a victim of the 1.2 land tier changes. I think Portal on G4 paid it a visit once.
It is a weird sim, terraformed to high heavens. Now I have a fast enough computer to see the plateau from my house. I really haven't got tired of looking at it. |

I've lived in Kissling continuously since May 2003 and can tell you the history of that unique sim (but not tonight, maybe some day soon). It has had very little terraforming since it's creation or at least, it is pretty close to the way it originally appeared. Most of the neighboring sims have been flattened and extensively terraformed and look very little like they were. Our group, Kissling Land Holding, owns just over half of the sim with the Lindens owning most of the rest. We are on break now after a couple years of intense SL activity and are quite content leaving it as is for the time being, despite occasional calls offers to "revitalize Kissling". When we feel the time is right we will be back. In the meantime, you are welcome to enjoy Sia's Garden and the peaceful quiet and dignity that is Kissling.

LMAO thats just too funny. It seems there still is speculation and commenting on topics that one knows little about :-/ Not to mention, you can't even remember her name.....so how much of this really IS speculation and mis remembered fact? heh Not that its of any concern, I never had an alt in beta. Tax balancing was fun, and I had the cash (by a single AV) to cover taxes(tho if rents didn't come in I lost my ars). I also rented out squares of land up there that were LINDEN grided out before I bought up there, the general layout of how the property lines are now, is how they were when the Lindens flipped the switch to "on" for the first time to Kissling.....sigh blame and rumor mongers suck!! If you REALLY want the Kissling story, get it from one who knows a thing or 2 from actually living it......The Angel years were and are enough to drive one batty....... And btw, It's Lynnix Muse, who just happens to be my wife in SL (we were the first ever married in SL) and shortly after the marriage in SL I moved to live with her IRL ![]() _____________________

I don't quite remember this way back when Kissling was original created - and I lived there. While Charlie did figure out an excellent method to beat the tax system (as did many many other people, many whom still own full sims in the mainland), there was indeed only one of him. I have no recollection what the "checkerboarding" bit is in regards to - there were the same city blocks that exist now. While Kissling belong to Charlie and Lynnix, it was probably one of the most organized looking sims ever - apar to Miramare now. Eventually that fell apart when a particular party became a PITA. I sware, I could write a novel about the history of that sim.... |

On the SL history wiki, we're documenting this. Please post your stories there. If you add even just a little bit it would be great. We can compile all the stories into a grand history of kissling
![]() thanks! (OOOh more pictures of kissling as it has progressed through the years would be great!) http://history.secondserver.net/index.php/Kissling (or post your stories here so i can add them to the wiki) |

I was thinking I would do some updating. I think I still have quite a few pictures left - some along the same lines (but more past acts) as the ones currently there.

I fell in a deep pit that had been set to no fly in Kissling yesterday. Was a nice little trap. I think someone should build a big, mordor-like citedal up there.
