Seems like everytime we have an update, it takes longer and longer to download the latest. And of course, I'm sure the filesize goes up for the updates, but this is rediculous.

For example, I'm on a cable connection, and I'm not having a problem with anything else, but it's taken me over 20 minutes now to DL the latest update and I've only gotten 11000K.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I guess a lot of it depends how many people are downloading the patch/update at the same time.... if 5,000 people are trying to simultaneously download then the bandwidth will be spread a lot thinner than if, say, 50 were trying.

That's partly why I usually wait about an hour after the grid reopens, to let the peak pass. But that's just me.

No, not just you Jakkal... I tried to manually download the latest SL from:and am only getting 25 KiloBytes/sec, which is not right. Should be much higher, we certainly have the bandwidth. Who else is having this problem?

It doesn't appear to be a localized issue, so I'll inform the right Lindens.

Okay, thanx--I'm using Firefox, altho I did notice that using a download accelerator to use multiple connections at once time sped it up significantly.

Hmm. Initial start was 100-something KByte/s, but it dropped like a rock from there. About 30KB/s it slowed down, but the speed is still creeping down at around -0.1KB every few seconds according to Firefox 1.5's download manager, around 26.5 when I send this post.

(256Kbit ADSL connection)

Of course, this wouldn't be an issue with partial updates instead of downloading a whole new package each version change. :p

I had no problems on my 3.0Mbit ADSL connection. Downloaded the update in only a few mins using the built in downloader. Wierd.

Overall it took me about 40-45 minutes to get the update. That sucked :P

Took about 30 seconds here at work. Wish I had this connection at home! :)
