While anyone can answer any questions posed here, I'd like to direct the following question to the females in sl.
Why is it so important to most females to have their pictures in their boyfriends profile along with a pledge of love?

I mean, I believe I can answer this question myself by saying they want others to see it or they want to see if their bf does it to prove he's not with some other female.

But, I would like to hear from the ladies themselves on their own reasons for this being so important to them. It seems to be of extreme importance to many females here, so much that they risk breaking up with their bf's over this.

Oh Ricardo - I can see quite a bit of SL Female drama in your future. Better get your alt now while its free and easy.

I do it as part of a long, slow process of breaking a man's spirit and sense of individuality.

They say never trust a man who doesn't introduce you to his friends.

I would guess it's the SL equivalent.

it's easier and more socially acceptable than branding them on the forehead with "back off bitch I'm taken"

only marginally more socially acceptable that is.

Because he's acknowledging publicly that you are an important part of his identity and life in SL. It's even better if he puts you in his SL tab, in his Picks, and in his First Life tab. 'Course, you will someday also have the very public humiliation and heartbreak when you log in and open his profile to find he's said "Ttthhhatt's All Folks! Bye!" and see his partner slot empty. :(

Might as well ask...
Why do people wear rings, talk about each other to friends, trade apartment keys, keep photos in their wallets and on their desks... or do anything they do when in a relationship. The profile pictures and declarations are like the SL equivalent of all that.

Just like in RL, for some these things are important, for others they are not.

While some may include the commentary to state a public claim, there are women who define themselves by being with a man, and feel worthless without one. Sad, isn't it?

What Six said. Whats worse is the girl with the "Back off boys, I'm taken" is usually the snobbiest bitch you can hunt down in SL so after talking to her you just kinda roll your eyes and think "Thank god"

Why is there a "partner" slot when there's no "nemesis" slot? What about "alter ego" and "evil twin?"

When a guy hits on random females when she's not around they can see at a glance he shouldn't.(no experience speaking there  )

Ooh, yes! They should add a "nemesis" slot-- that'd be way more fun. :D

Yeah, but then I'd have to do a proposition demanding more nemesis slots.

It'd just be a mess. :(

I can only speak for myself of course, but I wouldn't need his to take a picture of us, put it in his profile with some soft words from his heart. I would just pee on him and keep all the bitches off with my scent. :)
