I must say that I'm greatly relived that a new optional update is out, It's reassuring that they are still working on it.

Thank you LL I can imagine that several of the changes to the UI and other things has created quiet a headache for you and lost you many nights sleep.

I'm just glad that there are still ppl with enough will to carry on and fix it concidering all the flak LL has gotten since the update.

Horay for the LL staff!

What about the new bugs that were introduced, like the sudden problem uploading files with upper case extensions?

I think we need different information when we install a version:

- the things that have been introduced.
- the things that have been fixed.
- the things that have been broken.

The cynic in me says that half of the bugs are purposely introduced, to pad out the 'bug fixes' and make it look like each update contains more than it needs to.

hehe. well think of it this way, LL must be as much in a state of panic as we are right now. This version worked fine on the Preview grid. but when it was introduced on the main grid things went completly haywire.

I doubt they take this very lightly, they are probarbly in the same state of "WTF?" that we are about all the problems this version has.

And there again, maybe if they'd investigated and fixed bugs in the new release that were reported in preview and subsequently ignored, rather than ignoring the reports and releasing it regardless then things might have worked out rather better?

Sorry, I don't have a lot of sympathy for them. This update was just too frivolous, gimmicky and flawed. IF it had been a serious attempt to fix longstanding (like from before I joined SL) issues I might have had more sympathy, but under the circumstances I find it hard to summon up any.

I just uploaded 2 sound effects, and it uploaded 2 copies of each one. O.o Is that the problem your refering to? I agree also.. Things that always worked before keep getting broken each update.

Yes I'm serious, converting the UI to an XML base isn't a small thing, it's a whole new enviroment that they have to recreate the old UI's behaviour in.

Besides, they are working on it, several of the bugs that have been bothering me have been taken care of in this optional update.

might be good for you ... but i dont think its been all that good for everyone else!...... considering the lag / texture rezz. /the silly chat and enter cursor thing, the way prims behave when your building.!. the scripts.. and lets not even talk about the photo thing!.lol.............and all the other stuff thats not working now! why do they have to do things like that??.... why cant they just fix things like the cache. and all the other old bugs?........ then proceed with the shiny things?. the photo wasnt broken nor the chat and the cursor. !! now it is!. and it will take forever to get the bloody things fixed!.....

Ah.. no.. this is a bit much. I can undertand the UI problems and to a certain extent the LSL problems but to release something with an open exploit readily available is not good.

You forgot a section to the release notes..

- the bugs that have been added!

You hint at it, but seriously if there are that many bugs in the updates, they might as well tell us they have added them just to stop us screaming for their heads on stake with the blood still dripping from their severed necks.
