Hi,

Just looking for some feeback before trying out this little project.

I don't know how many of these sites allready exist in SL or how popular they are.
But what do you think of a music site with a digital downloads area for SL Music Artists?
One thing i do know, is that there are many talented artists in SL, this might be a good
opportunity for some extra advertisement and sales, offering free storage of your music.

Artist visits the site, and if required, sends their production details to the site or in-world.
If accepted, the artist's details would be added to the relevant music category, and the
artist would be given ftp access to the store where they could upload their mp3 music.
Some samples online for listners to preview your work, possible in-world samples also.
We could provide storage for SL users to host their files for later use in SL or anywhere.
I'd like to know how the music could be used in different ways in SL from media players.

For the moment, customers payments will be handled by paypal, on receipt of payment,
the customer would receive instant email notification with a download url to their music.
A download link is also available to the customers in their account history on the site.
The artist is notified by email of their sales and payment delivered via paypal or in-world.

80 or 90% commission paid to the artist/producers for their sales etc, what's good?

Unfortunately we don't have the know how to implement automated SL payments Yet.
This would be a great feature for SL residents, but still, the mp3 wouldn't be sent to you
in SL, the option to buy with lindens and still receive your download via email a bonus.

Thought this might be a cool project, if any of you talented people are intrested.
There would be zero costs for storing your info/mp3's on the site, just clean advertising.

With a bit of support maybe this little project could expand to some grand scale.

Any sugestions for improvments much appreciated.

Thanks later.

Goodluck,

I recently sold a record label to another resident who is taking it forward, it's very similar in nature.

I think the market right now is just too small. Even giving away the music is tough to do. However, there are a few, very few SL srtists who are doing very well on their own. One problem you will have is getting them to cut you in.

I think you'd have to bring more to the table.
