Abuse Reports....

Ok I was sitting here looking over the various threads and thought "hey I need to check the police blotter", so I did just that. While reading the various reports listed it occured to me that maybe the reason some of us arent getting the response we are looking for is because we are not putting the correct abusive action in the report,IE., what type it is considered.

Now this is just my opinion and probably way off base so bare with me. I filed a AR against somebody for disclosing my R/L name,address, and email inworld, but I dont remember what catagory I selected! As I read the blotter I see the suspensions resulted from a Community Standards: Disclosure, First Life, apparently giving out R/L pictures of a resident. Ok maybe just maybe some of us are putting in the wrong category?

Ok so you filed the AR, sent it in got the auto-reply and sit and wait for the blotter to show some sort of action. Nothing seems to happen you get upset rant rave and threaaten to quit or tier down. Ok heres the tricky part that IMO is probably the catch 22 that LL abuse team is using to avoid having to respond when they know its a valid case. When you filed the AR for the griefer attacking you and you put abusive behavior when it was really a chat violation. Well the Ar is sitting in the filed folder in the abuse teams inbox it gets brought out to read the person sees the Catagory and says hey this isnt the correct field and goes oh well they should learn to put the AR in the right catagory and files it in the trash/recycle bin.

Now I hope this isnt what is happening but I can see it a a possibily. I do know i try to weigh the reportable action in all fields to make sure its filed correctly but sometimes a action appears to be one type when it really is just something else and that is where I feel LL is dropping the ball by not correcting the mistake and continuing to investigate.


If I am wrong on this I want a "OFFICIAL" response and of course I want all you lovely peooples opinion on this!

I usually quote the relevant part of the community standardsthat the post is violating. At least then if they don't agree, they can at least understand why it was reported.

Very intresting thread...I have filed a few AR and have never really been satisifed with the result..btw where is the police blotter.

I also fail to see how they could miss the words underage too but i wont be filing any more reports.. even i know when to stop lol till they make you show cc info and send the kids back to the teen grid its a moot point...i have logs of someone telling me he was 3 different ages..that alone would raise a red flag for me...but I am not angry just resigned to defending myself and try not to be in trouble for it as the griefers seem to have more rights than the victims in sl ...

I agree with you rain I have been victim of a griefer crying to a Linden for help. IMO this Linden needs to stop reponding to cry of "ZOMG THEY WONT LEAVE ME ALONE IN WEAPONS TESTING CAUSE ALL I AM DOING IS TESTING", and start responding to reports of actuall griefing and reports of underage people on the main grid.

AR's and you, a How-to.

I regularly see police blotter notices in responce to my ARs, why?
Details, clarity and brevity.

Details: time, date, who, what, where
no guesses, assumptions or personal opinions
Example
Catagory, Behavior
"at or near 09:55 on 07-02-06 Griefer Griefer entered CLubname in SimName immedialty flew to ceiling height and began firing push effect bullets into the crowd. Griefer Griefer was frozen via pie menu interface, presented with club rules and instructed to cease then immediatly began firing again when freeze expired, Ejected from parcel and banned 10:01 07-02-07"

always list time and date things started, and when they ended.
always list the names of the people involved.
always list where it happened.
briefly describe what happened.

never, ever, EVER try and imbelish the truth and if you used a orbiter/push weapon to remove the person... save yourself the bother, you broke the TOS too they'll toss the AR. always use the games default pie menu to eject griefers or a security orb set to land eject with a 30 second warning timer, you can get away with TP home too, but NEVER use orbs set to push.
always give hte griefer your sim/club/home/TOS rules reference advise them of the need to stop immediatly then eject them when they don't.

I ussually spend more time writing my ARs then the griefer do griefing the club.
