I believe there is an upgrade tomorrow.

This would be a good time to do a last minute test of the 1.11 preview.

I have not looked at it (although my alt has). I like being surprised. It's like opening a shiny new present on Christmas morning!...or a stocking of coals...in some cases.

:)

You're asking the wrong people Suez... Really, LL should test it... though, I'm sure they will at some point ...

They'll start testing it about half an hour after they re-open the grid, necessitating another grid closure.

You mean we'll test it when the grid comes up... You seem very naively optimistic... I like that in a noob... even if you are an alt ;)

It's kind of hard for LL to test on on the thousands of different hardware and software configurations people have.

In order for users to see if they like the new features users have to try them their own selves, LL can't do that. It would have been a lot simpler for LL to change things to suit people while the code was on the preview grid.

It takes no significant time to download and install the preview versions. On my sytem I just add -multiple to the shortcuts that start the programs and I can be in the main grid and both previews at one time.

You don't have to do anything challenging when you get there, just being there at all helps to test for system crashes. Flying across some sim borders tests sim borders. Buying stuff tests the buying system.

Have always added -multiple... since a few versions ago, my PC stopped being up to playing more than one.

Been there, done that... but some of it should be done before it hits the preview grid...

Stuff gets released into the main that would never pass alpha test anywhere else.

I've been *trying* to test it, except that the preview keeps asking me to install a version I already have, so I can't get in.

If the lindens wanted to do a feature, aka new bug, they wouldn't care what the majority thought. example: resmod program.

My opinion doesn't matter. The majority's opinion doesn't matter. Why bother?

I have not enough experience with other programs to be able to agree with that with good reason.

I agree anyway.

Which preview grid, 1.11 or 1.12? Are you using the downloads page to get the installation files or is it the auto-updater that occurs after you try to start the program?

I'm trying it now , and just got an auto-update message forcing a download.

I got the same result, contacted Torley, who contacted the developers, who should get it fixed soon.

The download for preview 1.11 is working properly now, giving the 1.11.0.9 version as required.

Heh heh, there a parcel in the preview welcome area that has been set to a group and and set to allow only group members to enter, so you get a message "Welcome Area, Cannot enter parcel, not member of the group." How's that for a welcome?
