I have been having some trouble with a neighbor. It seems, ever since I bought the land, they had a tree that overhangs my property. I have never seen them around, and every time I ask them to move their tree away from the property {a} they are never there and {b} the tree does not move.

The tree penetrates a building I have on my property. The building is 30m x 30m, and there's no room to move it away from the tree. Also, there's not really a better location on the property for my building.

This has been going on for months, now. I'm not sure what can be done of it, but I'm pretty sure what I'm dealing with is a newbie user with a premium account from like June of 2005 who owns their little piece of First Land and has not logged in for at least eleven months.

From what I hear about AR's, this is probably not an option. I would even suspect that if the guy only "got a warning," they would never even know and nothing would come of it.

Does LL have a way to detect such idle accounts? If so, why don't they at least free up the land such idleness ties up? If my guess is correct, this guy's paying US$9.95 a month for his premium account {with 512m of land} and removing their land would not reduce the leeching from them at all.

I must admit that I do want the parcel, but even if the parcel does not end up in my hands, if it ends up in an active person's hands, it will probably be a great improvement over the current situation.

And yes, I've asked the squatter if they would sell me the land, and gotten the same response as my requests to please move the offending tree.

Post in Second Life Land Management thread asking for a Linden (more than likely Guy Linden) to remove the tree.

Easier if the tree is owned by Govrenor Linden, so be sure to look at the tree in Edit Mode to see who Created it and who Owns it to psot in the SLLM thread.

LL likes things to be worked out between residents, and it seems like you tried, so they will probably step in and move/delete the tree. May take them some time, so be patient, but will be faster than waiting on your non-exitant neighbor. They may also be able to reclaim the land, but taht process takes longer.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

to save your sanity until you get it resolved you may wanna just raise your build into the air. admittedly a far from perfect solution, but a thought.

No, firstly, an AR would not be useless here. I had a similar situation and when I asked on the Live Help, I was told that filing an AR would be perfectly acceptable, since it interfers with the use of your land. And yes, filing an AR does work, especially if you've contacted the person in question a couple of times and recieved no response or have recieved threats.

Wish I did, so I could cut it down myself.

Actually, a number of accounts have been suspended recently for trees that crossed boundary lines -- of course, if the *sshole never logs in, they won't even notice that they're been suspended, so I'm not sure just how much help that would be. Better to get a Linden involved directly.

When I had an issue with this, I posted in Second Life Land Management and it got resolved. I'm not sure how much was "a linden asking my neighbour nicely" vs "a linden moved the tree and my neighbour can just damn well LIKE it", but the tree stopped poking through my wall so I don't mind either way!

If they put it back in the intruding position once SLLM have sorted it, then I'd say file ARs - because they'd clearly be doing it to be an arsehole, rather than it just being accidental and them not noticing.
